Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Interface Lead to join our team!
The Interface Lead will be responsible for managing and coordinating technical, organizational, contractual, and physical interfaces between project disciplines, contractors, consultants, authorities, stakeholders, and operational entities.
The role will ensure that interfaces are clearly identified, assigned, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner to prevent design conflicts, construction delays, scope gaps, rework, and impacts to project milestones.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the day-to-day interface management activities across assigned project areas and packages.
- Establish and maintain the project Interface Management Plan, procedures, workflows, and governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain the Interface Register / Interface Control Document (ICD).
- Identify, document, classify, and monitor technical and non-technical interfaces across the project.
- Coordinate interfaces between Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, Quality, HSE, Planning, Commercial, and Operations.
- Manage interfaces between different engineering disciplines including Civil, Structural, MEP, ICT, ELV, Utilities, Roads, Airfield, FLS, and specialist systems.
- Coordinate interfaces between multiple contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and project packages.
- Identify interfaces between new works and existing infrastructure / operational facilities.
- Coordinate airport airside / landside and operational interfaces where applicable.
- Identify interface requirements at an early stage and ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned to the relevant parties.
- Develop and maintain Interface Responsibility Matrices (IRM) and interface ownership structures.
- Define interface inputs, outputs, deliverables, responsibilities, dates, and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate technical information exchange between interfacing parties.
- Facilitate interface workshops and coordination meetings.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, interface action trackers, and follow-up reports.
- Monitor interface actions and ensure timely closure of outstanding issues.
- Escalate critical or overdue interface issues to Project Management.
- Coordinate resolution of design clashes, scope gaps, technical discrepancies, and construction interface issues.
- Review interface requirements within drawings, specifications, contracts, technical submissions, and project documents.
- Coordinate with BIM / Digital Engineering teams to identify and resolve spatial and technical clashes.
- Support multidisciplinary design coordination and constructability reviews.
- Review interface requirements associated with temporary works, construction sequencing, access, logistics, and work fronts.
- Coordinate interfaces between permanent works and temporary facilities where applicable.
- Manage interfaces between construction activities and testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover.
- Coordinate system interfaces and integration requirements during commissioning.
- Ensure interface requirements are incorporated into project schedules and key milestones.
- Coordinate with Planning and Project Controls to monitor interface-related activities and constraints.
- Identify interface dependencies that may affect the critical path or project milestones.
- Support development of mitigation and recovery strategies for interface-related delays.
- Coordinate with Commercial and Contracts teams regarding interface-related scope boundaries, responsibilities, variations, and claims.
- Identify potential scope gaps, overlaps, and responsibility conflicts between contracts and packages.
- Support resolution of contractual interface issues in coordination with Commercial and Contracts teams.
- Maintain records of interface decisions, agreements, approvals, and technical resolutions.
- Ensure interface agreements are formally documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor implementation of agreed interface requirements in design and construction.
- Conduct interface inspections and site walks where required to verify physical interface conditions.
- Coordinate with Quality teams regarding interface-related inspections, NCRs, and corrective actions.
- Support resolution of interface-related RFIs, Technical Queries, NCRs, and site issues.
- Coordinate with HSE teams regarding interfaces that may create safety or operational risks.
- Coordinate with authorities, utility providers, airport operators, and external stakeholders where required.
- Monitor interface risks and maintain an Interface Risk Register where applicable.
- Provide regular interface status reports and dashboards to Project Management.
- Identify trends and recurring interface issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project governance meetings by providing interface status, key risks, and outstanding actions.
- Ensure interface information is properly documented and controlled.
- Support project handover by ensuring all outstanding interfaces are closed before completion.
- Capture interface-related lessons learned and best practices for future project phases.
- Provide guidance and support to engineers and coordinators involved in interface management.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in interface management, engineering coordination, construction management, or project delivery.
- Proven experience on major airport, infrastructure, transportation, or large-scale construction projects.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
- Experience managing interfaces between contractors, consultants, design teams, and project stakeholders.
- Airport / aviation interface management experience is highly preferred.
- PMP / CAPM certification is an advantage.
- Interface Management / Systems Engineering training is preferred.
- PMI / AACE project controls training is an advantage.
- BIM / Digital Engineering coordination training is beneficial.
- Relevant HSE certification is an advantage.
