About Shepherd Electric Supply
Since 1892, Shepherd Electric Supply has been the first call when complex, time-critical electrical challenges need to be solved, and reliability truly matters. We move materials accurately and on time, so contractors stay on schedule, projects stay on track, and customers never have to wonder if we will come through.
Our success comes from people who take pride in doing things the right way — safely, accurately, and with care for teammates and customers alike. If you want to do work that matters at a company that notices, this is the place.
Why This Role Matters
A clean, safe, well-kept branch is not a nice-to-have — it is the environment every promise Shepherd makes depends on. Teammates work safer and faster in a space that's orderly. Customers who walk into a clean, cared-for branch trust the operation behind it. The Facilities Representative keeps that environment right, every day.
This is not just pushing a broom. You are the person who keeps floors safe to walk, restrooms and break rooms decent for the people who use them, and the whole branch presentable to anyone who comes through the door. When a spill gets cleaned before someone slips, or a restroom is stocked before anyone notices it wasn't — that's the job done right.
This role is for someone who takes pride in a space, who notices the details others walk past, and who understands that a clean, safe branch is part of how Shepherd shows up for its people and its customers.
Work Shift and Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm
Compensation Details:
The expected pay rate for this position is starting between $18.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience.
How This Role Connects to Our Compass
We Keep Our Promises: A clean, safe branch isn't a once-in-a-while thing — it's every shift, on schedule, whether or not anyone is watching. Restrooms stocked, floors clean, trash handled. People count on the space being right, and you make sure it is.
We Stay Hungry: You notice what needs attention before you're asked, and you look for the smarter way — the recurring mess with a root cause, the supply that always runs out, the corner everyone forgets. You don't just clean the space, you keep making it better.
We Grow Together: You share the branch with the whole team and its customers. You time your work so it doesn't disrupt operations, work respectfully around people, and treat the space as everyone's. A well-kept branch lifts everyone in it.
We Own It: You don't walk past the spill, the overflowing bin, or the smudged glass door. You take responsibility for the whole space — and when something's beyond cleaning, like a leak or a broken fixture, you report it rather than leave it for the next person.
We Go Above & Beyond: You see the details others miss — the entrance a customer notices first, the break room that makes a teammate's day a little better. You leave the branch cleaner and more welcoming than the minimum ever would.
Key Outcomes -Organized by what matters, not just what you do.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas on a set schedule so they stay consistently presentable
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the branch, including warehouse and counter/will-call areas
Wipe and disinfect high-touch surfaces — counters, door handles, and shared equipment
Keep entrances, glass doors, and customer-facing areas clean and welcoming
Safety & Hazard Prevention
Clean up spills immediately and place wet-floor signage to prevent slips and falls
Keep aisles, walkways, and emergency exits clear and free of hazards
Store and handle cleaning chemicals safely, per label instructions and Shepherd standards
Report any hazard you can't resolve — a leak, a broken fixture, a damaged floor — right away
Supplies & Restocking
Keep restrooms and break rooms stocked with paper products, soap, and supplies
Track cleaning supply levels and reorder or report before anything runs out
Keep equipment and supplies stored safely and in their proper place
Waste & Recycling
Empty trash and recycling on a regular cadence and dispose of waste per branch guidelines
Keep dumpster and waste areas clean and orderly
Follow proper procedures for any regulated or special-handling waste [confirm what applies at this branch]
Care of the Space & Continuous Improvement
Notice recurring problem areas and address the cause, not just the symptom
Report building or maintenance issues you spot while cleaning
Look for smarter, better ways to keep the branch clean and safe
What Success Looks Like - After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers:
Restrooms, break rooms, and common areas are consistently clean and stocked, every shift
Floors are clean and dry, and spills are handled quickly with proper signage
Trash and recycling never pile up, and waste areas stay orderly
Aisles and exits stay clear, and hazards are reported promptly
You've flagged at least one issue — a leak, a recurring mess, a safety concern — before it became a problem
Teammates and customers notice the branch is clean and well cared for
Who Thrives Here - This role is a strong fit if:
You take pride in a clean, orderly space and notice the details others walk past
You take ownership without being reminded — you don't leave a spill or a full bin for someone else
You're dependable and consistent, because cleanliness is about doing it right every day
You work respectfully and considerately around teammates and customers
You stay safety-minded — for yourself and everyone in the building
You care about the work being done right, not just done
You want to be part of a team that notices when you do the job well
