Facilities Project Manager - JLL
What this job involves: JLL is seeking a Facilities Project Manager to support operations at Tennessee State University (TSU). Reporting to the Senior Director, this role will coordinate and oversee JLL's scope of work, ensuring seamless project execution and follow-through across university facilities operations. A significant component of this role includes managing all waste management and recycling operations for the campus, ensuring vendor accountability and service excellence.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Oversee all waste management and recycling logistics across Tennessee State University campus
Manage vendor relationship and ensure accountability for contracted scope of work
Monitor service schedules, collection routes, and bin placement to optimize efficiency
Track waste and recycling metrics, including diversion rates and service compliance
Respond to service issues and coordinate timely resolution with vendor
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper waste container placement and maintenance
Develop and implement strategies to improve campus recycling participation and waste reduction
Coordinate special waste collection needs for events, move-ins/move-outs, and seasonal activities
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal waste disposal regulations
Support the Senior Director in managing JLL's scope of work for non-capital projects across campus
Coordinate maintenance, repair, and operational improvement projects from initiation through completion
Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion
Monitor project budgets and resource allocation to maintain cost efficiency
Serve as primary point of contact for waste management issues and project status updates
Facilitate communication between university stakeholders, vendors, and JLL team members
Conduct regular follow-up on open items, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
Document project progress, vendor performance, and maintain accurate records in relevant systems
Provide regular reporting on waste management operations and project status
Assist in developing project scopes, schedules, and work plans
Coordinate with facilities maintenance teams to schedule and execute work
Ensure compliance with university policies, safety standards, and quality requirements
Identify potential project risks and operational inefficiencies, developing mitigation strategies
Help streamline project workflows, waste management protocols, and communication processes
Maintain and update project tracking tools, vendor performance documentation, and sustainability metrics
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the facilities management program
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
3+ years of project coordination or project management experience, preferably in facilities management or higher education
Experience managing vendor relationships and holding contractors accountable to service agreements
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and operational responsibilities simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Valid driver's license and ability to travel across campus regularly
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education facilities management or waste management operations
Knowledge of waste diversion programs, recycling best practices, and sustainability initiatives
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credential
Knowledge of building systems and maintenance operations
Understanding of environmental regulations related to waste disposal
Location: Nashville, TN (on-site)
Work shift: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
