Job Summary:

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an experienced researcher to fill a newly established Associate/Full Professor tenure-track position. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative department that values research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education of the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

While we welcome applications from candidates in all areas of otolaryngology head and neck surgery research, the department particularly encourages applications from researchers with expertise in:

  • Voice, resonance, and upper airway disorders

  • Swallowing disorders

  • Hearing loss and audiology research

  • Clinical and health services research

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable record of successful extramural research funding and leading an independent research program that can be continued at UW-Madison. Evidence of a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration is expected. The selected finalist will be expected to demonstrate an ability to mentor junior researchers and graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be critical to being successful in this role.

  • This position is full-time 100%

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.  The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles Associate Professor or Professor on the Tenure Track, Visiting Associate Professor, and Visiting Professor.

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an experienced researcher to fill a newly established Associate/Full Professor tenure-track position. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative department that values research excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education of the next generation of clinicians and scientists.

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is a nationally recognized leader in clinical care and research. Our department covers the following areas:

  • Voice and voice disorders

  • Swallowing and swallowing disorders (dysphagia)

  • Hearing and hearing loss/audiology

  • Head and neck oncology and surgical outcomes

  • Pediatric sleep apnea and airway disorders

  • Rhinology and sinus disease

  • Otology and neurotology

  • Laryngology and airway management

As an interdisciplinary academic research institution, our department actively fosters collaborative research across specialty areas and with colleagues throughout the university and healthcare system. The successful candidate will contribute to the expanding research portfolio of DOHNS and participate in teaching graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows. This includes participation in our NIDCD-funded T32 training program.

Compensation:

Negotiable, 12 month

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on tenure track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the UW Divisional Committee guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the tenure track.

Education:

  • Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent), or M.D. and Ph.D. is required
