The Opportunity

As a Business Operations Specialist on MassMutual’s Mail & Distribution Services team, you will help deliver reliable, efficient mail, package, freight, and logistics services that support business partners, subsidiaries, and field locations across the enterprise. Your work will strengthen service delivery, vendor performance, and the day-to-day experience of internal customers. 

You will coordinate operational programs and key vendor relationships involving USPS, UPS, FedEx, less-than-truckload carriers, and mail service providers. You will use operational data, sound judgment, and cross-functional partnership to resolve issues, identify improvements, and help maintain compliant, resilient processes across the organization.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role with clear ownership of assigned workflows and initiatives. You will balance multiple time-sensitive priorities, make recommendations within your area of responsibility, and demonstrate MassMutual’s Winning Ways through accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement. 

The Team

You will join Mail & Distribution Services, a collaborative operations team focused on dependable service, thoughtful stewardship, and continuous improvement. The team partners closely with departments and customers spanning Home Office, Field, and Subsidiary locations along with numerous supporting vendors. Including transportation carriers and mail service providers. Team members share information, solve problems together, and remain focused on safe, timely, and cost-effective solutions and successful customer outcomes. You will contribute your operational perspective while building trusted relationships across the organization and with vendors.

The Impact

Support the development, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise mail and logistics programs, helping to ensure dependable solutions and service across inbound and outbound mail, packages, and freight programs. 

• Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align service quality, cost efficiency, and operational requirements, improving outcomes for business partners and customers. 
• Monitor vendor service and performance data, investigate exceptions, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements that reduce risk and strengthen accountability. 
• Coordinate with operations teams to support timely processing and delivery, clarify priorities, and address workflow issues across Springfield and Boston mail center operations. 
• Analyze operational data and reporting to identify trends, measure results, and provide practical insights that support planning and decision-making. 
• Resolve operational issues and escalations while maintaining compliance with USPS regulations, carrier requirements, and internal policies, protecting service continuity and customer confidence.

The Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to travel occasionally to the Boston office.
• 3+ years of experience in mail operations, logistics, supply chain, business operations, or a related field. 
• 1+ years of experience working with shipping carriers and mail service providers, including USPS, UPS, or FedEx. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

The Ideal Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mail and logistics operations, program coordination, or vendor management. 
• Working knowledge of the USPS Domestic Mail Manual and mailing requirements; Mail Design Professional certification is preferred. 
• Experience using carrier systems, operational reporting tools, and vendor performance measures. 
• Experience analyzing operational data, identifying root causes, and translating findings into workflow improvements. 
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple time-sensitive priorities and coordinating work across internal and external partners. 
• Ability to communicate recommendations clearly, influence stakeholders, and deliver customer-focused results with integrity and accountability.

Salary Range:

$55,600-$70,000
