Your Role in Our Story:
In essence, your role involves:
- Own sustainability compliance activities across key product lines, ensuring they meet applicable regulatory and certification requirements and enabling uninterrupted trading and market access.
- Manage certification and audit processes, including frameworks such as ISCC, REDcert, Better Biomass and French White Certificates (CEE), coordinating with certification bodies and resolving issues efficiently.
- Ensure data and documentation quality by reviewing and validating sustainability information, supporting accurate reporting, audits, certifications and customer requirements.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to provide practical compliance advice, assess risks and enable informed, compliant transactions while minimizing delays and exposure.
- Monitor and apply regulatory requirements, interpreting evolving national, EU and international standards and translating them into effective day-to-day compliance processes.
- Safeguard product and financial integrity by reconciling sustainability positions and inventory across platforms and validating transactional data for completeness and reliable downstream reporting.
- Collaborate across functions including Finance, Risk, IT and Legal to improve processes, strengthen controls and contribute to technology and straight-through-processing initiatives.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and external stakeholders, clearly communicating sustainability compliance requirements and status while helping deliver a high-quality, client-centric service.
Your Expertise:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Relevant academic background: A university degree in business administration, environmental science, engineering, law or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience: 2–4+ years of experience in product, environmental or sustainability compliance, ideally within biomass, renewable fuels or renewable gas trading.
- Sustainability compliance knowledge: A solid understanding of renewable fuels, gas trading, energy efficiency or other regulated environmental commodities and their regulatory frameworks.
- Operational & financial acumen: Good understanding of accounting principles, calculations, operational processes and data quality control, with the ability to manage activities accurately and independently.
- Analytical problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
- Process & systems mindset: Ability to identify inefficiencies, improve processes and contribute to system or software implementations, supported by strong data-analysis skills.
- Stakeholder & client focus: A collaborative, client-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly, balance commercial priorities with operational control and work effectively across functions and geographies.
- Autonomy & adaptability: A self-starter with strong organization and time-management skills, able to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. Experience with multi-country compliance operations, French CEE requirements, French or Spanish, energy trading, product stewardship or voluntary schemes such as Better Biomass or EcoEnergy would be an advantage.
