Senior Director, Finance, Global Markets & Expansion

Position Summary...

The Senior Director, Finance, Global Markets & Expansion will serve as the senior Finance partner responsible for shaping and enabling Walmart Marketplace’s growth outside the United States. This leader will help determine where Walmart Marketplace should compete, how we should enter, and how we can scale sustainably, while strengthening the performance of our existing international businesses.

The role will partner closely with Global Marketplace leadership and local business teams to support established markets such as Mexico and Canada, assess expansion opportunities in additional markets, and translate enterprise ambitions into market-specific financial and operating plans.

Walmart’s Global Marketplace Finance team serves as a strategic partner to leaders driving key growth initiatives. The team delivers financial clarity and actionable insights to support broader assortment, faster fulfillment, and trusted customer and seller experiences. Collaborating across Marketplace, Walmart Fulfillment Services, and enterprise teams, they translate strategy into measurable financial outcomes through long-range planning, forecasting, and performance management. This fast-paced, collaborative group values intellectual curiosity, ownership, and practical problem-solving, offering opportunities to influence senior leadership and shape the future of Walmart’s global digital marketplace.

What you'll do...

• Providing support across existing markets, new-market expansion and global seller growth.

 

• Advise senior leaders on where Walmart Marketplace should expand, how markets should be prioritized and which operating models will create the greatest long-term enterprise value.

 

• Develop business cases for new markets and capabilities, incorporating customer demand, seller supply, GMV, contribution profit, profit, investment requirements

 

• Coordinate closely with International Segment Finance and local-market Finance teams, creating consistent decision frameworks while recognizing differences in market maturity, customer needs and operating environments.

 

• Evaluate the economics of cross-border trade, Marketplace fulfillment, local seller models, advertising and other monetization opportunities to ensure growth creates durable value for Walmart.

 
What you'll bring:

• Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategic business planning within complex organizations.

 

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior management decisions.

 

• Expertise in risk management and control structures to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

 

• Strong proficiency in financial modeling and reporting, including consolidation and variance analysis.

 

• Excellent communication skills to present financial insights and support business case development.

 

• Ability to develop and implement business strategies aligned with corporate goals and market trends.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 6 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area. 3 years’ supervisory experience. 3 years’ experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.
