Medical Director (Small Animal Practice) – Bealeton, VA
A veterinary organization is seeking an experienced Veterinary Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and support across multiple veterinary practices. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to take on a broader leadership position while continuing to contribute to patient care and doctor development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance across multiple veterinary practices
- Promote high standards of patient care, medical quality, and client service
- Mentor and support veterinarians in their clinical and professional development
- Provide hands-on clinical guidance in general practice and surgery
- Identify training and continuing education opportunities
- Partner with hospital leadership to improve clinical and operational performance
- Review performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support consistent medical standards and best practices across locations
- Help develop and implement strategic plans for hospital growth
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and supportive team culture
- Encourage accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
- Build strong relationships with veterinarians, hospital leaders, and support teams
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
- Active veterinary license or eligibility for licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical veterinary experience
- Leadership or multi-hospital experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to mentor and develop veterinary professionals
- Willingness to travel between assigned veterinary practices
