- Review revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations and management reporting
- Analyze variable consideration, price concessions, and constraints related to state rate changes, retroactive rate adjustments, and contract modifications/amendments
- Review new and renewed state contracts (RFP awards, amendments, rate letters) with Account Management to determine recognition timing and treatment, including accounting for deferred fulfillment costs
- Maintain the company's revenue recognition policy and contract-specific position papers/memos across the state contract portfolio
Technical Accounting
- Research and document accounting positions on new and complex transactions, including ASC 842 leases, ASC 718 equity-based compensation, derivatives, etc.
- Draft technical accounting memos and whitepapers supporting significant judgments and estimates, including participant fund pass-through accounting (assessing gross vs. net presentation for participant payroll and related disbursements) and any fiduciary/agency relationships
- Monitor FASB updates and emerging guidance relevant to the Company and document impact
- Support technical accounting for new state contract wins, program expansions, and any potential M&A or financing activity
Process, Controls & Reporting
- Design and maintain internal controls over revenue recognition, contract billing, and related accounts (deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, participant fund liabilities) appropriate for a private company
- Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and lenders on revenue-related matters, including preparation of audit-ready support and technical memos
- Partner with RCM and Account Management to ensure systems, contract terms, and rate schedules are accurately reflected in recognized revenue and reconciled to state remittances/invoices
- Support month-end and quarter-end close for revenue, unbilled/deferred revenue, contract assets, and participant fund-related balance sheet accounts
- Assist with external reporting requirements, including compliance certificates.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA required (or actively pursuing)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or technical accounting experience in industry
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying it to complex, non-standard contracts
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Excellent written communication skills, with demonstrated experience drafting technical accounting memos
Preferred
- Experience in government services, healthcare services, Medicaid/Medicaid managed care, human services, or public sector contracting
- Experience with gross vs. net revenue presentation and agency/principal considerations (ASC 606-10-55) in pass-through or fund administration arrangements
- Experience with private company reporting requirements (lender covenants, quality of earnings, audit readiness)
Compensation Range: $140,000-$155,000
