Description
Our esteemed client, an award-winning ultra-luxury hospitality brand operating exclusive private island resorts in the Maldives, is actively seeking an experienced and technical Chief Engineer to lead their engineering and maintenance operations.
In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering and oversee the property's overall engineering infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems, facility maintenance, and environmental sustainability initiatives while upholding the highest standards of ultra-luxury service excellence.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar Chief Engineer role within the luxury hospitality or resort sector.
- Strong background in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering.
- Relevant professional engineering license/certification is required.
- Prior experience in 5-star luxury resorts or island destinations, particularly within the Maldives, is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, team management, and preventive maintenance capabilities.
- Available to relocate on a single travel package to a remote island destination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations across the property under the guidance of the Director of Engineering.
- Oversee and maintain all primary infrastructure, including power generation, desalination plant, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Manage, lead, and mentor the engineering team to ensure high operational efficiency, quick troubleshooting response, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Implement robust preventive maintenance programs for all resort facilities, guest villas, back-of-house areas, and machinery.
- Drive environmental sustainability, energy-saving initiatives, and regulatory compliance per Maldivian environmental regulations.
- Coordinate closely with operational departments (Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B) to ensure rapid resolution of guest maintenance requests.
- Manage engineering inventory, spare parts, equipment logs, and budget utilization effectively.
