Role Overview

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) & Digital Marketing Technology Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, evolution, and operational excellence of BMO's marketing cloud ecosystem. This role serves as the bridge between enterprise technology, cloud engineering, data and analytics, digital marketing, privacy, risk, and marketing business stakeholders.

The successful candidate will possess deep Google Cloud Platform expertise while also acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader for digital marketing capabilities across the bank, including measurement, audience activation, personalization, customer data platforms (CDPs), AI/ML enablement for digital acquisition use cases, and marketing technology integration.

This leader will drive the delivery of scalable cloud solutions that support acquisition, engagement, personalization, measurement, and customer growth strategies while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Platform Leadership

• Lead the strategic roadmap, governance, and adoption of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) capabilities supporting Marketing and Digital.
• Assist our strategic partners with cloud engineering, platform operations, architecture reviews, security controls, network integration, and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, Risk, and Technology teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
• Drive reliability, performance, availability, and cost optimization of cloud services.
• Manage vendor relationships, managed service providers, consulting partners, and cloud technology providers.

Digital Marketing Technology Leadership

Act as the primary technology representative supporting Digital Acquisition GCP-related initiatives.

Champion marketing technology capabilities including:

• • First-party data activation
  • Customer Data Platforms (CDP)
  • Digital measurement and attribution, including reporting dashboards (Looker).
  • Server-side tagging
  • Marketing APIs and integrations

Data, Analytics & AI Enablement

• Support the onboarding and governance of marketing, digital, and customer data within GCP environments.
• Enable reporting, dashboarding, data products, and advanced analytics capabilities for digital marketing.
• Drive adoption of AI, machine learning, and predictive modeling capabilities that support digital acquisition, marketing effectiveness, and business performance.
• Collaborate with data science teams to operationalize digital acquisition use cases.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with enterprise risk, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead platform-related audits, certifications, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
• Partner with Privacy, Compliance, and Legal teams to support evolving consent and data governance requirements.
• Establish governance frameworks that balance innovation with regulatory obligations.

Stakeholder Management & Influence

• Build strong relationships across Marketing, Technology, Digital, Lines of Business, Corporate Functions, and Enterprise Data teams.
• Translate technical concepts into business outcomes for executive and non-technical audiences.
• Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding technology investments, capability expansion, and operating model improvements.
• Represent Digital Marketing technology capabilities within enterprise cloud, data, and AI governance forums.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or related discipline.
• Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSc, or a graduate degree in engineering

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud technologies, data platforms, digital marketing technology, or enterprise architecture.
• Experience managing enterprise-scale cloud platforms within highly regulated environments.
• Experience partnering with executive stakeholders and cross-functional business teams.

Technical Expertise

Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including:

• • BigQuery
  • Cloud Storage
  • Dataflow
  • Pub/Sub
  • IAM

Network Security and Monitoring & Operations

• CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience with cloud governance, security, compliance, and operating models.
• Familiarity with Azure and AWS environments, in addition to Google Cloud.

Marketing Technology Expertise

Strong understanding of:

• • Google Marketing Platform
  • Looker or Power BI
  • GA4
  • Adobe ecosystem
  • Salesforce ecosystem
  • CDP platforms
  • Audience activation technologies
  • Digital measurement and attribution
  • Customer identity and privacy frameworks
  • Ability to connect technology investments to marketing performance outcomes.

$85,500.00 - $185,000.00

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
