Position Overview:
The Director, Global Education Strategic Partnerships is a key leadership role within Global MedTech Education & Capabilities responsible for building and executing the global strategy for strategic education partnerships and the Johnson & Johnson Institute (JJI) network footprint. This leader will own the strategy for relationships and engagement with leading education institutions across the world, ensuring partnerships are aligned to MedTech Surgery priorities, global education standards, customer experience, innovation, and regional execution needs.
The role will serve as the primary relationship owner for priority global and regional education partnerships, including IRCAD in North America, and future EMEA and APAC partnership opportunities, while also defining the long-term JJI footprint strategy across the global network.
The objective of the Director, Global Education Strategic Partnerships, is to:
- Define and lead a global strategic partnership strategy that strengthens MedTech Education’s ability to deliver best-in-class, scalable learning experiences for customers, clinicians, commercial teams, and strategic partners.
- Own the strategy for priority external education institution relationships, ensuring each partnership has clear objectives, governance, engagement plans, communication rhythms, and measurable impact.
- Lead the global JJI footprint strategy, connecting JJI sites, regional training centers and 3rd party education hubs into a cohesive global education ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the global strategy for strategic education partnerships, including identification, prioritization, governance, and ongoing management of relationships with leading education institutions, skills centers, academic collaborators, and innovation partners.
• Serve as the enterprise relationship owner for priority education partnerships, establishing clear engagement models, decision rights, communication plans, operating cadence, escalation pathways, and success measures.
• Act as a matrixed leader across Global MedTech Education & Capabilities, JJI, regional education teams, Global Strategic Marketing, Professional Education, Commercial Education, Medical Affairs, Legal, HCC, Finance, Operations, Technology & Innovation, and external partners to align partnership priorities and deliverables.
• Own the JJI network footprint strategy, including analysis of existing and future sites, global standards, regional access needs, innovation opportunities and investment priorities.
• Partner with regional and platform leaders to ensure strategic partnerships support priority education needs, including professional education, commercial education, digital learning, OTTAVA readiness, new product introductions and specialty education.
• Lead the operating model, project management, communication, and delivery discipline for large-scale partnership initiatives, ensuring milestones, risks, dependencies, budgets, and stakeholder expectations are actively managed.
• Lead joint governance meetings with internal and external partners, ensuring high-quality agendas, crisp decision-making, issue resolution, follow-up, and completion of action items.
• Monitor partnership health and strategic value, using metrics, stakeholder feedback, utilization data, customer experience insights, and regional priorities to continuously refine partnership strategy and investment decisions.
- North America: Serve as overall partnership owner for IRCAD, including relationship strategy, governance, stakeholder alignment, and execution oversight. Lead the Surgical Intelligence Experience (SIX) Center initiative as partnership owner, with accountability for communication, project management, delivery readiness, and implementation. This role will update and refine the SIX strategies to meet IRCAD and J&J goals, coordinating the engagement with internal and external partners, and both clinical and non-clinical SMEs to deliver the right suite programming. Serve as the Future of Surgery Curriculum partner management, being the key point of contact with curriculum partner, defining internal and external SMEs for design, validation and delivery, and defining and updating SIX’s success metrics.
- EMEA & APAC: Define strategic partnership priorities and future opportunities across APAC, partnering with regional leaders to assess education institution relationships, JJI network needs, regional training center opportunities, and market-specific requirements, including OTTAVA training needs.
- Global JJI Network: Own the global JJI footprint strategy, ensuring the network supports global standards, regional access, and scalable execution across priority markets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or MBA preferred in business, education, healthcare, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of healthcare, medical device, education, commercial, professional education, strategic partnerships, program management, or related experience required.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing complex external partnerships, academic or institutional relationships, strategic alliances, or global education networks is highly preferred.
- Strong global mindset with experience working across regions, cultures, time zones, and highly matrixed organizations is required.
- Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects with clear accountability for timelines, budgets, communication, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and delivery is required.
- Knowledge of professional education, clinical simulation, training center operations, learning technology, customer experience, or medical education accreditation preferred.
- Experience with surgical education, robotics, digital learning, or advanced procedural training preferred.
- Ability to operate strategically and tactically, moving from long-range footprint strategy to hands-on implementation of priority partnership initiatives.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$150,000.00 - $258,750.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
