Responsibilities
This role will be aligned to Oaktree’s Global Credit strategy, which primarily invests in publicly traded credit investments across areas such as high yield bonds, leveraged loans, and structured credit, offering flexibility and dynamic allocation across market opportunities. This individual will work closely with investor relations team members, portfolio managers and investment professionals, the Global Client Group, and other internal stakeholders to support investor engagement, contribute to fundraising and diligence processes, and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of investor materials. Additionally, the individual will work cross-geographies including but not limited to Europe and Asia.
The role requires strong investment acumen, attention to detail, and superior written and verbal communication ability to contribute meaningfully to discussions on portfolios, positioning, and performance, while maintaining a high standard of excellence across all investor-facing materials.
Investor Communications
Prepare responses to investor inquiries relating to portfolio positioning, performance, and investments; and anticipate what investors may want to know based on market backdrop and relationship context
Partner closely with Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) and Investment Specialists to support investor engagement efforts, including providing market briefs, performance flashes and portfolio commentary
Support creation of materials for client meetings, conferences and other events
Participate in regular client updates on portfolios and manage relationships to be able to deliver such updates for portfolio managers
Develop the skills to be a credible, client-facing extension of the investment teams primarily across Europe and Asia.
Capital Formation & Strategic Solutions
Partner with Global Client Group to support fundraising and client engagement efforts, including in forming strategy narrative
Provide product and portfolio expertise in the LP diligence process, including investment input to client questionnaires.
Contribute to customized client solutions (e.g., separate accounts), working alongside Global Client Group and investment team
Help provide valuable feedback to the investment team on fundraising pipeline
Project Management & Execution
Contribute to a high-performing investor relations team by maintaining strong attention to detail and execution quality
Track deliverables and timelines to ensure timely reply to clients and timely completion of materials
Identify required information and coordinate across investment team, reporting teams, Global Client Group and other stakeholders to collate required information and present it to investors
Take ownership of the quality of the end-product, even when multiple teams have contributed
Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving
Insight Development
Develop a strong understanding of strategy, portfolio positioning and holdings, and market dynamics
Lead the team in synthesizing investment insights into clear, client-ready materials
Write commentary regarding the portfolios, including for monthly reporting
Demonstrate sound judgment with respect to sensitive, client-facing matters, and coach more junior members of the team in the same
Qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience in a client-facing role in institutional asset management
Proven track record of interacting with senior stakeholders across multiple geographies including Europe and Asia.
Exposure to and a strong interest in credit investing, leveraged finance, or public markets
Experience interacting with clients, investment teams and investors
Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to exercise good judgment regarding investor requests
Strong project management and teamwork skills
FINRA licenses (Series 7 and 63)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), with the ability to create both client-facing and internal deliverables
Education
Bachelor’s degree (major in Finance, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred).
MBA, CFA or other recognized advanced credentials is a plus.
