Overview

Organizes, manages, and ensures the integrity of complex data sets. Participates in data collection and conducts analyses. Responsible for developing and maintaining databases, improving data pipelines, integrating data platforms, providing technical support, and collaborating with researchers. Involves coordinating data management for various projects, supporting research with statistical tools, and communicating insights through visualization tools.

Job Summary

Develops and maintains reporting, analytics, and data solutions to support operational, clinical, and business decision-making. Analyzes data from healthcare and business systems, creates reports and dashboards, and ensures data accuracy and integrity.

Position Focus

• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions using BI tools.
• Perform SQL-based data analysis and reporting.
• Analyze and validate data from healthcare EMR and other business systems.
• Support stakeholders by providing actionable insights and data-driven recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries to support reporting, analytics, and data validation activities.
• Analyze data from Electronic Medical Record (EMR), claims, and other healthcare systems to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with business and clinical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Validate and reconcile data across multiple systems to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity.
• Provide ad hoc reporting, analytical support, and recommendations to management and operational teams.

• Ensure data quality through testing, validation, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Abilities

• 5+ years advanced proven SQL querying and data analysis skills.
• 3+ years’ experience with Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, or Tableau.
• 3+ years advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and data analysis functions.
• 3+ years understanding of healthcare data and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into reporting and analytical solutions.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

1. Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, computer science, data science, economics).
2. Demonstrated experience coordinating data management for research studies and managing complex datasets.
3. Technical experience in data modeling, database design, and data mining techniques.
4. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
5. Experience in survey design and working with institutional data regarding faculty or similar populations.

Principal Responsibilities

 

1. Creates a relational database from existing study data currently stored in multiple data sources. Designs comprehensive and relational databases with advance knowledge of relevant applications impacting on the data analyses and reporting. 2. Develops and documents operational procedures for the collection, editing, verification and management of study data. Documents all study data files, data structure and relationships, variable definitions and data codes. Writes detailed specifications for analysis files and performs consistency checks. 3. Develops and implements relevant statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple studies/projects. 4. Organizes and creates documents and tables related to datasets; communicates with data sources about data accuracy and data dictionary. 5. Evaluates and analyzes data using accepted statistical techniques and statistical analysis software. Performs descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using computer software. 6. Uses advanced statistical knowledge to provide support in managing and analyzing data. 7. Designs and implements quality control measures to ensure accurate collection and processing of data. Ensures the integrity of databases used in analyses through development of essential data cleaning and checks, and data back-ups. 8. Responsible for the documentation and transmission of study data. Ensures that data are collected and completed in a timely manner at each site location. 9. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in statistics, computer science, business administration or a related field and two years of experience in data management and analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with data collection and in coordinating efforts of multiple groups.
