Description
MTSI is seeking a Principal Radar Software Engineer/Analyst to support the Missile Defense Agency in Huntsville, Alabama. This role will focus on the design, development, integration, and sustainment of advanced radar software capabilities supporting missile defense and sensor mission requirements. The selected candidate will apply deep technical expertise in software engineering, radar systems, and mission-focused development to deliver high-quality software solutions for complex sensor applications. The role requires close coordination with systems engineering, integration and test, modeling and simulation, and the government/prime contractor stakeholders to ensure delivered software is reliable, maintainable, and aligned to program objectives. Key Responsibilities Provide oversight to the design, development, test, integration, and sustainment of radar software applications supporting sensor mission objectives. Contribute to software architecture, implementation, and performance optimization for radar and sensor processing systems. Support software development and enhancements for radar data processing, track management, system interfaces, and mission applications. Support software integration activities across system, subsystem, and lab environments. Collaborate with systems engineers and other technical teams to translate requirements into software designs and implementable solutions. Participate in code reviews, technical reviews, and software quality improvement activities. Troubleshoot software defects, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions in support of program execution. Support verification and validation activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing. Prepare technical documentation, software design artifacts, and status inputs for internal and external stakeholders. Support Agile or iterative development activities, including sprint planning, technical tasking, and risk identification, as applicable. Required Qualifications Master’s degree with 12 years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree with 20 years of related experience US citizenship and an active Secret security clearance Significant professional experience in software engineering of radar, sensor, defense, or other complex mission systems. Experience with software design, development, debugging, integration, and test in a structured engineering environment. Familiarity with software configuration management, version control, and modern development practices. Understanding of systems integration and software support within complex hardware/software environments. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering Familiarity with radar systems: sensor processing, track processing, or command-and-control interfaces. Experience with real-time, embedded, or high-performance software environments. Experience with Linux-based development environments and automated build/test pipelines. Experience supporting software in integration labs, system test events, or fielding/sustainment environments. Familiarity with Agile software development frameworks and DevSecOps practices. #LI-JJ1
