About the Role
Ferntree Gully, VIC | Permanent Full-Time
is seeking multiple experienced Construction Leads to join our Utilities division in Ferntree Gully on a permanent, full-time basis.
In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of overhead electricity distribution works across both maintenance and capital programs. You will provide day-to-day leadership to field crews, ensuring work is delivered in line with client expectations, safety requirements, regulatory obligations, project schedules, and budget targets.
As a Construction Lead, you will act as the key link between project delivery teams, network operators, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure the successful execution of overhead distribution projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion and lead a strong safety-first culture across all project activities.
- Ensure construction works are completed in accordance with WHS legislation, environmental requirements, company policies, and client standards.
- Lead field safety activities, site inspections, audits, and toolbox meetings.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively.
- Ensure subcontractors and field teams comply with approved Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Intervene and stop work where safety standards or compliance requirements are compromised.
- Lead the construction and maintenance delivery of overhead distribution network projects.
- Coordinate resources, plant, materials, contractors, and specialist services.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Monitor construction progress and take proactive action to address delays, risks, and operational challenges.
- Develop and implement construction methodologies and delivery strategies during tender and project delivery phases.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience within utilities, electrical distribution, infrastructure, or major project environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading construction crews, project teams, and subcontractors.
- Proven ability to manage safety, quality, cost, and schedule outcomes simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management skills.
- Experience developing construction methodologies and project delivery strategies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead (essential).
- Relevant industry certifications and safety qualifications will be highly regarded.
