$0.00 - $0.00The Adam Laboratory at Albany Medical College is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary translational research program focused on endothelial biology, inflammation-resolution, and cardiovascular disease.The successful candidate will primarily contribute to a newly funded NIH multi-PI R01 investigating how endothelial inflammation-resolution pathways regulate atherosclerotic plaque stability and cardiovascular disease progression. This work focuses on the interplay between IL-6/SOCS3 signaling and specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs), with the goal of identifying new therapeutic strategies that promote vascular repair without impairing host defense. Projects integrate advanced atherosclerosis models, endothelial-specific transgenic mouse systems, spatial biology, lipidomics, transcriptomics, and human cardiovascular specimens.

The Adam Laboratory's broader mission is to understand mechanisms that limit tissue injury and organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated inflammation. In addition to cardiovascular disease, the laboratory maintains active NIH-funded programs studying endothelial transcriptional and epigenetic responses in shock-induced multiorgan dysfunction, post-intensive care syndrome, and retinopathies. Fellows will participate in collaborative studies spanning vascular biology, immunology, and translational medicine, with opportunities to incorporate endothelial-specific reporter mice, intravital imaging, systems biology, bioinformatics, and human cardiovascular and critical-care specimens.
The Adam Laboratory is committed to individualized mentorship tailored to each fellow's career goals. Fellows receive regular one-on-one mentoring, guidance in experimental design and project management, support in developing scientific independence, and opportunities to mentor graduate, medical, and undergraduate trainees. Training includes active support for grant writing, manuscript development, conference presentations, professional networking, and career-development applications, including NIH T and K awards, AHA fellowships, and other extramural funding opportunities. The goal is to develop the scientific, leadership, communication, and mentoring skills necessary for successful careers in academia, industry, or government.
Publication expectations are discussed at the outset of training and revisited regularly. Fellows are expected to build a publication portfolio demonstrating scientific independence and productivity, including multiple first-author manuscripts from their primary project as well as collaborative co-authorship opportunities. The laboratory is committed to providing the mentorship, project ownership, resources, and collaborative environment needed to achieve these goals.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a biomedical science discipline, demonstrate a strong record of research productivity, and have experience in endothelial cell biology and vascular disease.
