Summary
A maintenance technician is to repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components. Perform tests and run initial batches to make sure that the machine is running smoothly. Detect minor problems by performing basic diagnostic tests. Test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed.
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Install, assemble and test new machines and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations.
- Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises and conducting scheduled testing as appropriate.
- Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery.
- Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
- Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
- Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service and testing of machinery.
- Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery.
- Work effectively with other team members in a loud environment.
Requirements
CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION
High School Diploma required
EXPERIENCE
- Five plus years of related work experience
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, HVAC, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret building, equipment, and systems related documents to include schematics, operating manuals, prints, etc.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Ability to act competently in emergencies
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience
- On occasion, perform necessary cleaning of equipment, tools, ect.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work activities may include: standing, walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, and crouching. Involves some lifting, 50lbs or less. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Will be exposed to diverse manufacturing environments
- Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous material.
SAFETY
- Proper PPE to be worn while on the shop floor, to include safety glasses, hearing protection, “long pants” and steel toe boots if required and no loose or baggy clothing.
CLEANLINESS
- Ensure work center is clean and free of debris and oil, Make sure everything organized and clean.
