Career Summary:
The Safety & Risk Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management of the Cooperative’s environmental, health, safety, and transportation risks. These responsibilities are carried out while upholding Sunrise's mission, goals, values, and commitment to achieving zero injuries and incidents, as well as adhering to Sunrise's safety principles:

Essential Duties:
• Provide daily safety and compliance support at the branch and regional levels.
• Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration with employees, managers, and external organizations.
• Respond promptly to incidents and conduct thorough incident investigations.
• Clearly communicate findings, corrective actions, and opportunities for improvement resulting from incident investigations.
• Develop and administer safety training programs for employees and community partners.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory programs, including SARA Tier II, U.S. EPA Repackaging Reports, EPA permits, ODA, DOT, OSHA, PUCO, fire regulations, and workers' compensation reporting requirements.
• Maintain files and records for all CDL drivers.
• Maintain all required EPA permits, including air permits, SPCC Plans, and Risk Management Plans (RMPs).
• Collaborate with the Safety Team and management to develop and improve policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Support the continuous development of the Sunrise safety culture.
• Work with team members and managers to identify and eliminate workplace hazards.
• Conduct audits and inspections of workplace conditions, work practices, and safety records to ensure compliance with Sunrise policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist Regional and Facility Managers in correcting unsafe actions and conditions.
• Actively participate in the Ohio Risk Coordinator Group.
• Assist with the onboarding of new and returning employees.
• Visit all assigned Sunrise locations regularly and in person.
• Review and assist with updates to all safety programs and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain Emergency Response Technician Level 3 certification.
• Handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially.
• Pursue professional certifications and remain current on regulatory topics through ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Cooperative.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Relevant experience and demonstrated knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to travel throughout Sunrise's trade territory as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.

Working Conditions:
• Frequent travel between Cooperative locations, including occasional overnight travel.
• Work performed in office, field, and retail agricultural environments.
• Exposure to grain dust, chemical storage areas, fuel, propane, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
