Description
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced maintenance procedures on state-of-the-art 3D printers, including precise mechanical and optical adjustments using measurement equipment such as micrometers, ultrasonic gauges, and power meters.
- Define and optimize (in collaboration with the design team) the correct maintenance methods for equipment.
- Interpret data resulting from mechanical, optical, and power calibrations using valid statistical tools and graphical analysis.
- Make data-driven decisions and escalate failures and unexpected behavior in 3D printers to the design/manufacturing teams.
- Ensure compliance with and analyze improvements to the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Capture and analyze downtime data within the designated tracking systems.
- Meet goals established by Management and communicate them to the team.
- Interact with Maintenance Technicians and provide direction toward achieving objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure targets are met.
- Analyze trend charts of key metrics such as OA, MTBF, and MTTR, and implement control activities to improve these indicators.
- Analyze the Top Five equipment failures and provide corrective actions.
- Based on trends and failure history, develop continuous improvement projects using methodologies such as Problem Solving Formats, PSP, 5 Whys, 8D, DMAIC, and Kaizen projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure optimal application and use of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools in terms of quality and productivity.
- Research, define, develop, and implement advanced manufacturing processes, methods, and technologies.
- Implement and promote continuous improvement methodologies and techniques.
- Responsible for equipment availability metrics and root cause investigation for issues related to unexpected equipment behavior (nonconforming product).
- Ensure that equipment taken out of operation is corrected and returned to productive status using objective verification methods such as dimensional and destructive testing.
- Actively participate in the design process of 3D printing engineering application projects from a maintenance perspective.
- Train and advise engineers, supervisors, technicians, team leaders, and line personnel on best practices for equipment operation and sustainment.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Engineering degree in Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Training in World-Class Manufacturing.
- More than 8 years of experience in maintenance and/or automation.
- Experience with PLCs, electronics, pneumatics, and electrical/mechanical control.
- Extensive knowledge/experience with automation equipment such as 3D printers, vision systems, robotics, RFID, and CNC.
- Knowledge of the following technologies is highly desirable: 3D printing, laser marking, laser cutting, 5-axis CNC machines, infrared heating systems, and ultraviolet curing systems.
- Strong knowledge/experience with measurement instruments.
