Director, Digital Solution Architecture & Experience Engineering

About the Role

The Director, Digital Solution Architecture & Experience Engineering will provide technology and architecture leadership for customer-facing digital banking capabilities across mobile and web channels.

The role will define end-to-end solution architecture spanning iOS, Android, responsive web, APIs, microservices, integration platforms, identity, security and cloud-native services, while ensuring a consistent and high-quality digital experience.

Working closely with Product, UX/XD, Engineering, Architecture, Security and business stakeholders, this leader will translate customer journeys and product strategy into scalable technology solutions.

The role combines solution architecture, hands-on digital engineering leadership and experience design thinking, with accountability for technology modernization, engineering standards, performance, resilience and delivery effectiveness.

What you will do

Digital Banking Solution Architecture

• Own solution architecture for digital banking capabilities across iOS, Android and Web.
• Define reference architectures, engineering standards and reusable patterns for digital channels.
• Architect integration between digital channels, API gateways, microservices, authentication services, payment platforms and core banking capabilities.
• Lead architecture reviews and major technology decisions across the digital ecosystem.
• Drive build-vs-buy-vs-integrate decisions considering customer experience, scalability, security, cost and time-to-market.

Mobile & Web Engineering Leadership

• Provide engineering leadership across native iOS, native Android and modern web development.
• Establish engineering standards covering code quality, automated testing, release management, performance and maintainability.
• Drive scalable frontend and mobile architecture, including modularization, component reuse and API-first integration.
• Modernize legacy digital applications and reduce accumulated technical debt.
• Strengthen CI/CD, automated testing and engineering productivity across digital delivery teams.

Experience Digitial (XD)  Product

• Partner with XD Global product team, delivery and business teams to translate customer journeys into technology solutions.
• Embed experience design thinking into architecture and engineering decisions rather than treating UX as a downstream activity.
• Establish reusable design-system and component approaches across mobile and web.
• Drive consistency across navigation, interaction patterns and customer journeys.
• Balance customer experience with security, regulatory and technology constraints.

 

Digital Banking & Platform Integration

• Architect secure customer journeys covering capabilities such as:
  • Customer onboarding
  • Authentication and authorization
  • Account servicing
  • Payments and transfers
  • Cards
  • Notifications
  • Customer servicing
• Establish API-first and event-driven integration patterns where appropriate.
• Drive channel consistency while enabling market-specific banking requirements.

 

Security, Resilience & Performance

• Ensure digital banking applications meet enterprise security, privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Embed secure engineering practices across mobile, web and API development.
• Establish architecture for high availability, resilience, monitoring and recoverability.
• Drive application performance and reliability through measurable engineering practices.
• Partner with Cybersecurity, Risk and Compliance teams throughout solution design and delivery.

 

Leadership

• Lead and influence solution architects, mobile engineers, web engineers and engineering leads across APAC.
• Develop strong architecture and engineering capabilities within delivery teams.
• Establish communities of practice across mobile, web and digital architecture.
• Act as a senior technology partner to Product, Business, Design and Engineering leadership.
• Create a culture focused on customer experience, engineering excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.

What you will need to have

• 15+ years of technology experience with significant leadership in digital platforms, solution architecture or software engineering.
• Strong experience architecting enterprise digital solutions across iOS, Android and Web.
• Deep understanding of mobile and modern web architectures.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, API management, identity/access management and distributed systems.
• Experience with modern mobile technologies such as Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, plus modern web engineering using technologies such as React, Angular or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience designing highly available, resilient and secure customer-facing platforms.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing and observability.
• Experience partnering closely with UX/XD and Product teams on complex customer journeys.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate architecture decisions to senior business and technology leaders.
