The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising youth programming in alignment with BGCAC’s five core program areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership Development, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth ages 13-18.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activities aligned with the Club’s core program areas.• Provide a positive learning environment with effective classroom management.• Supervise daily after-school programming and special events.• Prepare weekly lesson plans and engage members in high-yield activities.• Collaborate with Teen Center staff and support organization-wide initiatives.• Maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive environment aligned with licensing requirements.• Support community engagement projects in partnership with the Unit Director.• Address and manage behavior according to BGCAC guidelines and standards.• Other duties as assigned by the Unit Director.

Qualifications

-High School Diploma or GED required.-Experience working with youth in a structured setting.-Understanding of youth development principles.

-Commitment to being a positive role model and mentor.-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.-Strong verbal and written communication skills.-Ability to manage youth behavior and lead programming with limited supervision.-Capacity to plan, organize, and execute youth-centered activities.

Hours of Work: Monday- Friday, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. or similar (5 hours per day)

Starting Pay: $17.60- $20.68/ hour - based on prior education, skills and experience.
