The Chiba group in CCEB is pursuing development of new sustainable molecular transformations driven by light and/or electricity.

CCEB invites applications for a Research Fellow position within the Chiba Group. The successful candidate will contribute to a Pfizer-funded research programme focused on developing sustainable metal-free C-C and C-X bond-forming methodologies using photochemical and electrochemical approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research, including experimental design, execution and data analysis.

  • Lead and coordinate project activities to ensure timely achievement of research objectives and milestones.

  • Prepare weekly progress reports and present research updates at group meetings.

  • Analyse and interpret experimental results to guide research direction and decision-making.

  • Prepare manuscripts and publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

  • Support the development of research proposals and future funding applications.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to students and junior researchers, where appropriate.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry or related discipline.

  • Strong research track record in synthetic organic chemistry, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Experience in reaction development, multi-step organic synthesis, mechanistic studies and analytical characterization techniques (e.g. NMR, MS, HPLC).

  • Experience in photochemistry, electrochemistry or related sustainable synthetic methodologies is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Prior mentoring or industry-sponsored research experience will be an advantage.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
