Diversity matters
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.
The Living Wage Foundation’s statement 'a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay' is one that we are proud to commit to in the UK. As an accredited Living Wage employer, we put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts - whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.
At Lush Global Digital we lead the digital strategy and development of apps and websites. Developers of all disciplines are responsible for delivering software and services that meet the needs of the company as a global cosmetics retailer and spa.
The role
We are looking for a Midweight Android Developer to join our UK team at Lush Global Digital. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain scalable Android applications with a global reach. You’ll collaborate across development and design teams, apply TDD practices, fix and modernise existing software, and share your expertise through mentoring and documentation. You’ll be an essential part of an agile team delivering tech that powers our global retail and spa operations—all while supporting an ethical, purpose-led business.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build mission-critical Android applications with a global reach
- Coach and skillshare with junior developers
- Skillshare with other Andriod developers at all levels
- Collaborate with other teams across the business and work with all development teams to create end-to-end products
- Fix bugs in existing software and improve using the latest technologies
- Unit test code with a TDD approach and work with QAs to create test suites
- Document software and processes, and share your knowledge with others
- Support deployment of internally and externally facing applications and provide post-deployment support
- Support the open-sourcing and documentation of technologies to enable other developers to adopt our freely-distributed code
- Work closely with the UI design team to execute the design as closely as possible, staying within the design guidelines of the brand
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Core Android Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with the Android SDK, application lifecycle, and core OS integration.
- Modern Languages & Tools: Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, alongside version control using Git and Git-flow.
- App Deployment & Management: Practical experience deploying and managing apps via tools like Google Play Console and Scalefusion (MDM).
- Networking & APIs: Proven ability to build and integrate RESTful JSON APIs using standard Android networking libraries.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Experience setting up or working with CI pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Bitrise, Jenkins).
- Agile Mindset & Delivery: Experience working in agile software teams and a track record of delivering under pressure during major public events or campaign launches.
