The CFO provides both the financial stewardship and forward-looking leadership necessary to support organizational strategy, growth, major investments, and long-term sustainability.
This is an opportunity for an experienced financial leader to have a meaningful voice in the future of a respected, mission-driven organization while helping ensure that the YMCA's resources are positioned to maximize our impact throughout the community.

- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, cash flow, investments, debt management, banking and treasury functions, and internal controls.
- Identify financial and operational risks and opportunities and recommend strategies to strengthen organizational performance.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the Finance team while strengthening financial accountability throughout the association.
Nonprofit Accounting, Audit & Governance
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit accounting standards.
- Oversee accounting and reporting related to restricted funds, grants, contributions, and other nonprofit revenue sources.
- Lead the annual independent audit and oversee preparation of IRS Form 990 and other required regulatory filings.
- Maintain a strong system of internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable financial, grant, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, auditors, banks, investment partners, and other financial stakeholders.
- Provide clear and meaningful financial reporting to the Board and Finance Committee to support strong governance and informed decision-making.
Capital Projects, Contracts & Risk Management
- Provide financial oversight of major capital projects, including budgeting, financing, cash-flow planning, and monitoring project expenditures.
- Evaluate significant contracts and agreements for financial terms, obligations, business risks, and organizational impact in partnership with the President & CEO and legal counsel, as appropriate.
- Provide financial and business analysis related to significant organizational, contractual, and legal matters.
- Provide executive-level oversight of applicable risk management functions, including insurance coverage and renewals, claims, and coordination with brokers, carriers, and legal counsel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Active CPA license strongly preferred; CPA candidates will receive priority consideration.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible financial experience, including significant senior-level leadership responsibility for accounting and finance functions.
- Financial leadership experience within a YMCA, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organization strongly preferred; prior YMCA experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, restricted funds, grants, audit requirements, Form 990, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong expertise in budgeting and forecasting, long-range financial planning, financial reporting, cash and treasury management, investments, and financial analysis.
- Experience supporting fundraising and development initiatives, including financial oversight of grants, donor-restricted funds, capital campaigns, and collaboration with development teams.
- Experience working directly with a Board of Directors and/or Finance Committee and presenting financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience supporting a multi-site, multi-program organization with diverse revenue streams strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated success leading and developing a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.
