Position Description: 

 

Analyzes, builds, modernizes, maintains, and deploys enterprise Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and database layers of the platform. Applies a variety of Cloud-native (AWS and Snowflake) technologies to develop innovative solutions for complex problems. Designs business architecture patterns and data models for business use cases for the portfolio. Coordinates the Offshore Team associated with the project and mentors new members.  Develops and deploys near real-time event-based applications using U-deploy. Migrates on premises applications to Cloud. Creates Splunk queries, alerts, and dashboards for application monitoring. Creates scheduled jobs using Control-M. Creates and deploys data models in AWS RDS. Creates stored procedures using Oracle PL/SQL. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.  

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 

• Participates in architecture design teams. 

• Defines and implements application-level architecture. 

• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division. 

• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans. 

• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables. 

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems. 

• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms. 

• Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on budget. 

• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects. 

• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects. 

• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues. 

• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives. 

• Advises senior management on technical strategy. 

• Mentors junior team members. 

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.  

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts. 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) executing data modeling and developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Springboot, Kafka, or relational database service (RDS) within a financial services environment.  

  

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) executing data modeling and developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Springboot, Kafka, or relational database service (RDS) within a financial services environment. 

 

Skills and Knowledge: 

 

Candidate must also possess: 

 

• Demonstrated Expertise developing highly available, scalable, low latency, and distributed REST APIs using LWC Framework, Spring, and Spring Boot; deploying Docker Images into Kubernetes and developing Amazon Web Services (AWS) based batch solutions using Glue, S3, Lambda, RDS, and DynamoDB.   

• Demonstrated Expertise developing event streaming processes to enable real-time data integration between internal and external systems using Confluent, Open Source (OS) Kafka, and Kafka Connect; performing application log collection and monitoring using Kibana (ELK), Grafana, and Splunk; and publishing REST APIs to STRATUM.  

• Demonstrated Expertise developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Linux scripts, Oracle Data Definition Languages (DDL), or Data Manipulation Languages (DML), and Rest API services using Jenkins, Stash, Github, and uDeploy; developing data migration processes using Control-M Automated Jobs; and transferring data to downstream analytical systems using Secure File Transfer Protocol.  

• Demonstrated Expertise developing Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures by analyzing SQL statements using EXPLAIN PLAN, SQL Developer, and TOAD; and performing automated testing and executing performance testing of customer-facing applications using Postman collections and Rushhour, automated testing using Karate, and speeding up delivery with prompting techniques using Github Copilot.
