The Head of Product is responsible in overall product ideas and research, planning, approval, development and implementation as well as ensuring profitability in line with regional requirements and consistent with the financial objectives set for PruBSN products.

Key Responsibilities;

• To formulate, drive and monitor the Product strategic action plans so as to ensure that all initiatives put in place are being implemented effectively and efficiently.

• To lead the Product Development initiatives, overseeing the product development cycle based on the planned product calendar and ensuring the development process is in compliance to PCA and BNM product development standards.

• Obtain product approval from relevant parties internal and external including from the regulator (BNM), PCA, Shariah and Product Steering Committee

• Developing product marketing capabilities via research, development of customer centric products, enabling distribution channels to market product effectively to the right customers with value propositions

• To provide overall leadership for the division in developing continuous capabilities, skills and knowledge via active staff engagement and development programs for the entire product division

• To ensure full compliance with all relevant anti-money laundering laws, codes, rules regulations and standards of good practice, including the Group’s Money Laundering Prevention Policy and Standards with which PruBSN is required to comply.
• Responsible for identifying the risk in the department / activities under his/her control and to ensure there are adequate controls.  More specifically, the incumbent will:
  • Ensure that risks are identified and evaluated and that the controls in place to mitigate such risks are robust, adequate and operate effectively
  • Develop action plans and ensure timely completion.  Where necessary, the Risk Committee may ask for such action plans from time to time
  • Escalate key risks to the local risk committee
  • Manage incidents and identify remedial actions where necessary on a timely basis.

Qualification and Experience :

- Tertiary education in any field.  Preferred field:  Actuarial Science/Marketing/Life Insurance Marketing

- Experience: 10 years in Industry with managerial role in Actuarial Services or Product Development. 

- Knowledge in Product Development Processes

- Knowledge in Shariah Application to Takaful or Islamic Finance

- Experience in dealing with Shariah Committee members of Islamic Financial Institutions

- Passing Professional Examinations or Islamic Finance Certification is an advantage
