Nurse Practitioner/PA - Hematology and Oncology
Position Summary
The Hematology/Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), provides comprehensive care to patients with hematologic disorders and cancer diagnoses. Working collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team, the APP evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, manages symptoms and treatment-related side effects, and provides patient and family education.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage hematology and oncology patients in outpatient and/or inpatient settings.
- Order, interpret, and review laboratory, diagnostic, and imaging studies.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.
- Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments.
- Provide symptom management, survivorship care, and patient education.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current NP or PA certification and licensure in the applicable state.
- DEA registration (or eligibility).
- Oncology and/or hematology experience preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-centered care skills.
