About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Building Management System Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of the building management systems across our data center facilities. You will monitor system performance, support upgrades and integrations, and help ensure reliable environmental conditions within a mission-critical environment.

Your key responsibilities will include,

System Maintenance and Optimization

• Performing regular maintenance and troubleshooting of BMS hardware and software.
• Optimizing system performance to ensure energy efficiency and reliability.
• Monitoring and adjusting BMS parameters to maintain optimal environmental conditions.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Analyzing BMS data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and potential issues.
• Generating reports on system performance, energy usage, and maintenance activities.
• Providing actionable recommendations based on system data analysis.

Project Management

• Leading BMS upgrade and expansion projects while minimizing operational disruption.
• Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Developing and managing project plans, timelines, and budgets.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensuring BMS operations comply with applicable regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Conducting regular audits and inspections to verify system integrity and safety.
• Implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures.

Technical Support and Training

• Providing technical support to operations teams and other stakeholders.
• Developing and delivering training on BMS operation and maintenance.
• Keeping up to date with emerging BMS technologies and industry developments.

System Integration

• Integrating BMS platforms with other building systems and data center infrastructure.
• Collaborating with IT and facilities teams to ensure seamless interoperability.
• Managing and troubleshooting integration issues.

Requirements

Technical skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in BMS engineering, preferably within a data center or other critical infrastructure environment.
• Strong proficiency with BMS-related software and technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as BMS, HVAC, or PMP are considered highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience working with operational data and performance analysis.

Soft skills

• Effective and clear communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is considered a benefit.
