We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer II with a strong background in instructional design, training development, or eLearning development to support the client’s airport operations and customer service training programs. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners — including subject matter experts, operations leaders, and the training delivery team — to analyze learning needs, design effective training solutions, and ensure that content prepares front-line teams for the operation.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who excels in fast-paced environments and is comfortable owning multiple projects from needs analysis through launch and post-launch evaluation, with limited direction.
Location: SeaTac, WA (Hybrid – 3 days in office)
Contract Length: 12 months
Experience Level: Intermediate (2+ years)
- Design and develop eLearning and instructor-led training for multiple front-line customer service and airport operations workgroups, with limited direction.
- Write learning objectives tied to competencies and critical behaviors.
- Conduct job task, needs, gap, and root cause analyses to define the appropriate training deliverables.
- Build storyboards, simulations, scripts, job aids, and classroom materials in line with approved content plans.
- Manage moderately complex projects end to end, including video and audio production.
- Lead SME and stakeholder reviews and resolve content update requests.
- Upload, test, and maintain courses in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Facilitate Train-the-Trainer sessions to hand off content to the delivery team.
- Evaluate training after launch and update content based on results, while mentoring junior designers and recommending new tools and standards.
- 2+ years of experience in instructional design, training development, or eLearning development grounded in adult learning principles.
- Proven hands-on build experience in at least one of the following authoring tools:
- Articulate Storyline 360: Interactive eLearning modules, branching scenarios, or assessments.
- Adobe Captivate: Software simulations, responsive eLearning, or interactive training content.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work with SMEs and stakeholders to gather, review, and refine training content.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Experience with Articulate Rise 360.
- Experience with simulations, gamification, and screencast recording.
- Photoshop, graphic design, or web design skills.
- Instructional Design certificate (ATD, university program, or similar), and experience with mobile learning or emerging training technologies.
- Background in airline, airport, hospitality, or other front-line operations training.
Bachelor’s degree in Learning, Curriculum Design, Education, Communications, or a related discipline, or an additional 2 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
