Description
The Senior Corporate Accountant assists in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for executives, owners, regulatory bodies, and financing parties. This includes working with subsidiaries to coordinate and maintain month-end reporting deadlines, preparing working papers that facilitate analysis and review, and providing support for commentary on financial results.
The position also serves as a technical resource on accounting and financial reporting matters, including the interpretation and application of IFRS and new accounting pronouncements, and participates in other projects and activities as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers.
- Analyze and review financial results to identify key trends and support the preparation of commentary.
- Draft commentary for financial statements and reports provided to executives, shareholders, owners, and financing parties.
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Support the year-end audit of financial results, including preparing schedules to support the drafting of notes to the financial statements.
- Coordinate reporting deadlines with subsidiaries to ensure reporting requirements are completed on time.
- Research and evaluate complex accounting and financial reporting matters, including preparing technical accounting analyses and position papers.
- Lead or participate in special projects in the finance function.
Our Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 3-5 years' of public accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with IFRS and related accounting developments.
- Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make well-informed decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP and the transportation industry is considered an asset.
