Technical Business Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Business Analyst is an integral member of the development team. In this role you will act as a liaison to facilitate collaboration between Business Lines, Infrastructure, and other members of the Development Team for new projects and enhancements. The Technical Business Analyst is the technical expert for the applications they support. Individual is responsible for gathering user requirements for new projects, testing new and modified applications, and documenting processes. An understanding of MS SQL Server positions the individual to efficiently and effectively validate inputs and outputs from various systems. Individual will assist in finding new ways to leverage information to influence business decisions at all levels.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops an in-depth understanding of Jefferson Capital business processes, systems, and core data assets.
• Captures information from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, and researches current processes to gain an understanding of requests.
• Uses functional requirements provided by the business to create technical requirements.
• Works with other members of the development team to develop new solutions and enhance existing products.
• Develops test cases for new and existing features, performs QA testing, works with business units to develop and execute user acceptance tests, and logs/tracks status of defects.
• Supports formal Project Management Life Cycle, Software Development Life Cycle, and Change Management Process.
• Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Takes pride in ownership of delivered products that perform as expected and are free from defects.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or 4+ years related experience.
• Proven track record in successfully gathering, analyzing and documenting project requirements.
• Ability to extract requirements from business areas and document those requirements into clear and actionable tasks.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, including peers and managers.
• Able to execute a systematic, disciplined, analytical, and logical approach in problem solving.
• Experience with SQL (e.g., T-SQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle SQL) writing complex and efficient queries.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 Copilot or other AI tools to enhance business analysis activities (e.g., requirements gathering, documentation, and data analysis).
• Self-motivated, requires minimal direct supervision or assistance to complete tasks.
• Able to contribute to a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Passionate about learning, embracing new challenges, and having fun.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience in the financial services industry (credit, banking, insurance, etc.).
• Experience working in agile scrum environments.
• Experience with SAS, including writing complex and efficient queries.
