Introduction
As an Engineer for the ASIP Designer tool-suite, you contribute to the development, implementation, verification, and application of advanced Application-Specific Instruction-set Processors (ASIPs) for next-generation systems-on-chip.
Depending on your background and interests, you may work in one or more of the following areas:
- Compiler Technology: Develop and enhance our retargetable compiler technology, combining LLVM with specialized optimization and code-generation techniques such as instruction selection, register allocation, scheduling, and domain-specific programming models.
- Processor Modeling, Implementation & Verification: Develop tools for instruction-set simulation, RTL generation, and processor verification. This includes cycle- and instruction-accurate simulation using LLVM-based run-time optimization, generation of synthesizable Verilog/VHDL models, automatic test-program generation, and property-based formal verification.
- Applications Engineering: Help customers successfully apply ASIP Designer to their processor-development challenges. Analyze customer applications, develop innovative processor features, investigate complex technical questions, and support customers during evaluation, development, implementation, and verification.
- AI-Assisted Processor Development: Develop AI-powered features within the ASIP Designer tool-suite that make processor development easier, faster, and more productive. Explore how AI can assist engineers throughout the processor design workflow and integrate these capabilities into professional processor-development tools.
Across these areas, you work at the intersection of software development, processor architecture, compilers, hardware design, verification, AI, and real-world applications.
Required Qualifications
To apply for this role, you should have:
- An MSc or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong programming skills, particularly in C and/or C++.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of, or a strong interest in, processor and computer architecture.
- An interest in developing sophisticated software tools for processor design.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage:
- LLVM, GCC, MLIR, compiler optimization and code generation
- Processor and DSP architectures
- Embedded C/C++ and assembly programming
- Instruction-set simulation
- RTL design, Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL
- SystemC/TLM and UVM
- Processor verification and formal verification
- DSP algorithms and domain-specific programming models
- AI/ML, generative AI, or AI-assisted software engineering
- Developing AI-enabled features for complex engineering tools
