With a 27-year history of consistent growth and success, we are an independent wealth and asset management firm with over $15 billion in assets under management. Headquartered in Washington, with a team of over 120 professionals, we are dedicated to delivering a highly personalized experience that combines intelligent, thoughtful advice with unique investment strategies and comprehensive financial planning.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional teammate to join us as an Estate Planning and Wealth Strategist at our office in Seattle, WA. This critical, hands-on role is embedded in our Wealth Planning team, where you will help provide clients and Freestone Client Advisors with expert knowledge and consultation on various estate, gift, tax, charitable, and legacy planning matters.

You will work closely with internal team members as well as prospective and current clients to build trust and rapport through a goals-based planning process. This process focuses on helping clients clearly identify their goals and evaluate risks associated with multi-generational wealth strategies.

Freestone is experiencing rapid growth in an ever-evolving industry. The ideal candidate will enthusiastically embrace technology, stay up-to-date on tax law changes, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage clients in a wealth transition goal(s) discussion.
  • Review any existing estate plans and documents.
  • Design framework with requisite vehicles that best suits client’s objective goals.
  • Collaborate with Client Advisors, clients, and their counsel to ensure a positive experience for all parties involved.
  • Develop good working relationships with each client’s counsel, who will be responsible for executing and implementing estate planning documents, to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the Wealth Planning team to enhance existing processes and stay informed about new technologies, ensuring efficient estate planning operations.
  • Write thought pieces for Freestone’s blog and client distribution, offering valuable insights on estate planning topics. Present in webinars or events, showcasing expertise in estate planning and engaging with clients and industry professionals.
  • Maintain a strong network of thought leaders, centers of influence (COIs), and industry professionals to stay current with innovative estate plan creation and application knowledge.
  • Research new laws and regulations related to estate planning and stay current with industry trends.
  • Be open to providing additional support to Client Advisor teams and their clients across a broad range of planning areas, including retirement analysis, Social Security and Medicare planning, education funding, tax projections, charitable planning, insurance needs, executive compensation, estate planning, and cash flow analysis.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated advanced expertise in estate planning and tax law, including design, application, and implementation, with a focus on:
    • Trust and estate tax law and regulations, specifically in Washington, Oregon, California, and at the federal level.
    • Various trust structures and recommendations for generational planning.
    • Trust and estate administration.
    • Charitable trusts and solutions.
    • Utilization of life insurance policies and trusts.
  • Juris Doctorate degree required.
  • 6+ years of experience in Estate Law or Estate Advisory Practice, ideally having reached Senior Associate level or greater.
  • Excel at working independently with little execution oversight.
  • Comfortable tackling questions from the executive team to the most junior teammates.
  • High capacity for strategic thought and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the gravitas to serve as a trusted resource throughout the firm and with our clients.
  • Ability to guide clients towards decisions, preventing unnecessary detours or discussions on irrelevant details.
  • Solid planning, organizational, project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Hardworking, motivated, proactive and results-oriented with unquestioned integrity.
  • Strong intellect and appropriate self-confidence.
  • Capacity and passion for being part of a fast-growing firm.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to build relationships and earn the respect of others.
  • Heightened attention to detail – must be meticulous and consistently accurate.

Why Join Us?

  • The expected base salary for this position is $170,000 - $300,000, depending on experience and skill set. In addition, the position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, 401(k) matching, life and disability insurance, parental leave, and flex spending.
  • Generous paid time off—17 days of vacation, plus 10 paid holidays, Summer Fridays.
  • Meal perks, company events, team celebrations, and more.
  • A collaborative, fun, and supportive culture where you’re encouraged to innovate and grow.

Our Core Values

  • Commitment: You bring passion, integrity, and energy to everything you do.
  • Collaboration: Working together makes us stronger, smarter, and more innovative.
  • Continuous Improvement: We’re all about growth—both for our clients and ourselves.
