Job Description Summary:

Opening
At The Coca‑Cola Company, we operate in a dynamic environment where public policy and regulatory decisions have a direct impact on business outcomes. We are committed to advancing thoughtful, sustainable solutions that align business priorities with societal needs, helping shape frameworks that enable growth and protect stakeholder interests across markets.

The Senior Director, Government Affairs – Mexico plays a critical role in ensuring our business remains resilient and competitive through strategic engagement with government entities, legislators, opinion leaders, and industry associations. This position leads our public policy agenda for the Mexico Business Unit, proactively identifying opportunities and mitigating risks in the regulatory environment. Acting as a trusted partner to internal leadership and external stakeholders, the role designs and delivers strategies that influence policy development, foster collaborative relationships, and reinforce The Coca‑Cola Company’s reputation for responsible business practices. If you have a strong background in government relations and thrive on navigating complex legislative landscapes, this is an opportunity to shape impactful outcomes for one of the world’s most iconic brands.

What You’ll Do for Us

  • Develop and lead proactive and responsive public policy strategies for the Mexico Business Unit to protect and promote Coca‑Cola’s business interests.
  • Establish and sustain value‑based relationships with decision‑makers across federal, state, and local government, regulatory agencies, trade associations, and supranational institutions influencing the food and beverage industry.
  • Translate emerging regulatory trends into strategic implications for marketing practices, taxation, labeling requirements, and advertising regulations, ensuring business readiness and advocacy alignment.
  • Identify opportunities within government policy, customs regulations, and trade frameworks to enable business growth and enhance operational agility.
  • Serve as a senior integrator across internal teams—Public Affairs and Communications, Legal, Finance, Marketing—and bottling partners to maintain a unified approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead the design and execution of reputation‑building programs with government stakeholders, reinforcing trust and transparency in Coca‑Cola’s commitments.
  • Coordinate system-wide advocacy efforts through strategic partnership with bottlers and active leadership within industry associations to address legislative issues impacting food and beverage sectors.
  • Monitor, assess, and communicate evolving health, environment, and wellness regulations, integrating insights into business planning and risk‑management frameworks.
  • Influence critical conversations with political and legislative actors by presenting data‑driven messages aligned with company priorities and societal trends.
  • Actively embed compliance awareness related to lobbying laws and gift regulations into all government relations initiatives to uphold Coca‑Cola’s ethical standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, or external relations within a multinational environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated government relations strategies, including engagement with legislators, political leaders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong understanding of Mexico’s legislative processes and lobbying compliance requirements; familiarity with health and environmental regulatory frameworks advantageous.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing external consultants to deliver coordinated advocacy efforts across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to synthesize complex regulatory trends and communicate implications effectively to business leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Skilled in relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing senior decision-makers to achieve aligned outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of external dynamics shaping the food and beverage industry, including public policy, taxation, marketing restrictions, and trade agreements.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, project management, and organizational skills with a track record of delivering results in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.

What We’ll Do for You

  • Provide the platform to shape public policy perspectives for one of the most recognized consumer brands in the world.
  • Enable collaboration with global and regional teams, offering exposure to complex governance models and strategic influence across Latin America.
