TITLE CLERK

Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Title Clerk has the overall responsibility to ensure that vehicles that have been sold are properly registered and recorded in the proper jurisdictions and that the liens have been properly recorded.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Realize that during any interaction with customers the employee should remember the HERO (Helpful, Exceeds expectations, Represents us well, takes Ownership) program. Also, that the customer is the highest priority of any employee of Wilson County Motors.
2. Process all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
3. Prepare tax and title documents.
4. Submit all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
5. Verifies that funds have been collected and the correct lienholder paid off before processing title applications.
6. Checks for accuracy in the applications and ensure that all information is complete. 
7. Maintains a system to verify out-of-state titles.
8. Compiles and maintains a complete list of all outstanding title work. Reports to management on the status of any missing or problem titles and provides a current list of outstanding titles to the comptroller at the end of the month.
9. Stays abreast of title regulations.
10. Cross-trains others to handle title clerk daily responsibilities. 
11. Prepare paperwork and title work for wholesales.
12. Prepare checks for Tennessee clerks for title work and out of state tax and titles.
13. Ensures proper follow up on tags and titles.
14. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM DUTIES:

1. Ability to arrive to work on time.
2. Knowledge of title work.
3. Knowledge of phone systems.
4. Ability to speak on telephone for extended periods of time.
5. Mathematics proficiency.
6. Computer proficiency.  

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Will be spending majority of shift sitting at a desk.
