  • Maximize revenue-producing asset utilization by identifying idle or underutilized equipment and ensuring available assets are repaired, redeployed, or otherwise put to productive use.
  • Improve warehouse inventory turns by identifying slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and non-deployable equipment and supplies and executing appropriate redeployment, transfer, return, sale, or disposal plans.
  • Oversee applicable HME procurement, including supplier evaluation, quotes, negotiations, purchase orders, and agreements to achieve favorable pricing, quality, reliability, and terms.
  • Manage inventory systems and end-of-month reconciliations to maintain accurate asset and inventory records, appropriate inventory levels, and accountability.
  • Monitor supplier agreements and partner with Finance to ensure purchasing, invoices, credits, warranty recoveries, and supplier payments are accurate and consistent with negotiated terms.
  • Develop and maintain a 3-year asset plan for ventilators and oxygen equipment to anticipate replacement needs, manage failure risk, and optimize capital deployment.
  • Establish and continuously improve processes that increase equipment reliability and utilization while reducing operational waste, unnecessary purchasing, repair expense, and equipment downtime.
  • Track and report purchasing savings, avoided capital expenditures, repair savings, warranty recoveries, asset redeployment, inventory reduction, and other measures of departmental financial performance.
  • Monitor departmental performance and identify and execute opportunities to reduce expense, recover lost value, improve revenue-producing capacity, and strengthen operational performance.
  • Partner with leadership and other departments to align asset, purchasing, inventory, and biomedical operations with organizational goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the success of the department and organization.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-5 years’ experience in asset management, purchasing, inventory, biomedical services, operations, or related functions; healthcare or HME experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, inventory control, purchasing, and capital planning.
  • Strong analytical and financial decision-making skills, including the ability to evaluate cost, utilization, repair-versus-replace decisions, and return on assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, identify opportunities, and translate findings into action.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, inventory/asset management systems, or related software.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and HME equipment standards preferred.

Success Factors

  • Ownership mentality with a strong bias toward action and measurable results.
  • Strong analytical curiosity with the ability to find waste, unused capacity, risk, and financial opportunity.
  • Ability to balance patient care, equipment reliability, operational needs, and financial return when making decisions.
  • Strong organizational discipline and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain simple, consistent, and accountable processes.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to influence decisions across departments.
  • Comfortable challenging historical practices and identifying better ways to deploy resources.

  • Regular interaction with equipment, inventory, warehouse operations, suppliers, and operational teams.
  • Periodic travel between Barnes locations may be required.
  • May be required to respond to urgent equipment, facility, or operational needs outside regular business hours.
