About the Role
Person in role is responsible and accountable for software engineering, modernization and operational excellence across a portfolio of technology solutions. Collaborates with technology teams, third-party vendors, Group and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and sustainable solutions while driving continuous improvements in engineering practices, application stability and delivery effectiveness.Roles and Responsibilities:
30-50% - Application Management
Own end-to-end technical accountability for applications under assigned portfolio.
Manage application roadmap, technical debt and lifecycle activities.
Ensure compliance with architecture, security, audit and SDLC requirements.
Lead root cause analysis and drive preventive actions for recurring issues.
Drive continuous improvements in application stability, security, maintainability, operational efficiency and scalability.
30-50% - Application Development
Lead technical design and solution reviews for all enhancements.
Promote engineering practices including code review, automated testing, CI/CD and AI-Assisted Engineering.
Ensure solutions meet performance, security and supportability requirements.
Drive automation and engineering improvements to improve delivery quality and productivity.
10% - Portfolio & Product Support
Act as SME to provide technical consultation, effort estimation and solution recommendations.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders on solution design and delivery planning.
Identify technical risks, dependencies and mitigation plans.
Support modernization, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide technical guidance during incidents, problem resolution and major changes.
Manage vendor technical deliverables, quality, risks and SLA compliance for assigned applications.
10% - People Development & Mgmt
Coach and mentor team members on technical and professional development.
Promote engineering standards, best practices and knowledge sharing.
Guide engineers and vendors to deliver quality solutions.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a technical lead role.
Strong experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, .NET, Angular, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, relational databases and enterprise application integration.
Experience with Azure cloud services, Azure solution architecture, cloud-native application architecture and integration patterns.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Azure DevOps and Git branching strategies.
Experience with DevSecOps practices, automated testing and release automation.
Strong understanding of application architecture, system integration, performance tuning and security best practices.
Experience managing enterprise applications across the full software development lifecycle.
Experience in application modernization, technical debt management and cloud migration initiatives.
Experience working with vendors and cross-functional technology teams.
Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing multiple enterprise applications and vendors is preferred.
