Description
The Quality Control Technician - Metrology will support the space program located in Houston, Texas.
Responsible for the precision measurement of flight hardware; from Coordinate Measuring Machine programming to first-article inspection.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) for dimensional and first-article inspections.
- Perform dimensional verification of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.
- Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators) and laser tracking/scanning equipment to verify conformance.
- Maintain tool control and calibration records; ensure equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
- Develop and maintain inspection reports; collate test data and draft quality reports.
- Report quality anomalies to the Quality Supervisor/Engineer and urgently communicate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
- Identify and implement improvements to quality control processes.
- Other duties as assigned.

- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Must have an associate degree or equivalent.
- Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
- In lieu of degree: Candidates with 7+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered.
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
- Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment.
- Experience with laser tracking/scanning equipment.
- Experience supporting mechanical assembly verifications.
- Advanced experience with quality inspection tools.
DESIRED:
- PC-DMIS programming proficiency.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
- Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

- Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
- Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
