Within Global Shared Services / Finance, the Master Data Management (MDM) organization is responsible for delivering high-quality, governed master data that enables the business to operate effectively across global markets and functions.
Position Summary
The Senior Business Analyst, Master Data Management Operations is responsible for the day-to-day execution and delivery of MDM operational services across multiple master data domains. This role serves as a front-line operational resource, supporting business users, investigating and resolving data-related incidents, fulfilling work requests, maintaining data quality, and ensuring service commitments are met.
The successful candidate will partner closely with business stakeholders, data stewards, MDM operations teams, IT support teams, and external partners to ensure timely and accurate execution of master data processes. The role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to identify and resolve issues.
This position is ideal for a hands-on MDM professional who enjoys operational execution, customer support, troubleshooting, process improvement, and managing data within a complex global environment.
What You'll Be Doing
MDM Operational Service Delivery
- Execute day-to-day master data operations activities across Item, Supplier, Finance, Customer, and other supported master data domains.
- Service work orders, requests, and transactions in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs), operational procedures, and data governance standards.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents within defined SLAs while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Analyze and resolve master data issues independently, escalating only when necessary and providing clear documentation of findings and corrective actions.
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues and partner with stakeholders to implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor work queues, backlog volumes, and service levels to ensure timely completion of requests and adherence to operational targets.
Data Quality & Governance
- Execute data validation, cleansing, enrichment, and maintenance activities to support master data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with established master data standards, business rules, governance policies, and control requirements.
- Identify data quality issues, exceptions, and process breakdowns and partner with data stewards to drive resolution.
- Support execution of data quality monitoring and remediation activities across assigned master data domains.
- Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and control activities as required.
Business Support & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a primary point of contact for business users requiring support related to master data processes, requests, incidents, and inquiries.
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Shared Services to understand issues and deliver effective solutions.
- Communicate issue status, resolution plans, and service updates in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Support business process changes, organizational initiatives, and operational improvements impacting master data management processes.
Continuous Improvement & Analytics
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, improve cycle times, and enhance service delivery performance.
- Support development and maintenance of operational KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting.
- Utilize data and operational metrics to identify trends, recurring issues, capacity constraints, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with testing, validation, training, and deployment activities associated with MDM enhancements and projects.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures, work instructions, process documentation, and knowledge management materials.
Project Support
- Participate in MDM projects, system enhancements, process improvement initiatives, and data migration activities.
- Execute assigned project tasks including testing, data validation, business process documentation, issue tracking, and deployment support.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure successful implementation of solutions that support operational objectives.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 4-7 years of experience in Master Data Management, Shared Services, Business Operations, Data Governance, Supply Chain Operations, Finance Operations, or related disciplines.
- Experience working within an operational support environment with defined SLAs and service delivery expectations.
- Proven experience servicing work requests, investigating incidents, troubleshooting issues, and resolving operational problems independently.
- Strong understanding of master data concepts, including data governance, data quality, hierarchy management, workflows, standards, and controls.
- Experience working with MDM and ERP platforms such as Syndigo/Riversand, SAP, SAP MDG, JD Edwards, Oracle, or comparable enterprise systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex data issues and determine root causes.
- Experience developing and executing testing scenarios, validation activities, and process documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Item Master, Supplier Master, Customer Master, Finance Master Data, or Product Information Management processes.
- Experience using SQL, Power BI, Excel, or similar tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience supporting global organizations and working within matrix environments.
- Healthcare, medical device, manufacturing, life sciences, or regulated industry experience.
- Experience working with Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- English proficiency required; additional language capabilities are a plus.
