Position Description

This position is responsible for ensuring all materials are transported and/or unloaded in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Move pallets of materials from staging areas into decase stations.
  • Monitor decase stations and communicate material needs to the Decase Lead to ensure all stations maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Reconcile material usage to ensure all materials are properly accounted for and use basic math skills to support daily operations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Decase Room by assisting Janitorial Staff, including:
    • Cleaning floors under decase stations.
    • Keeping aisles free of debris and potential tripping/slipping hazards such as boxes, strapping, pallet pieces, tags, and other materials.
  • Sort unused pallets by condition and stack into designated usable and unusable pallet areas.
  • Relieve and assist Stockers and Materials Handlers as needed throughout the shift while maintaining primary job responsibilities.
  • Follow all food safety, quality, and material handling requirements, including proper segregation of products and processes.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with Tyson Foods policies and procedures at all times.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Safely work around Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including forklifts.

INTERNAL REQUIREMENTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION:

  • Less than 4 attendance points. 
  • No Final Attendance warning in the previous six (6) months. 
  • No Written Warning for Job Performance In the previous six (6) months. 
  • Probationary Team Members: Positions can be awarded to probationary team members if no other eligible candidates meet the bid criteria. Probationary Period: 90 days
  • Bidding Restrictions: Are employees frozen from bidding? Yes No If so, the freeze durations are as follows:
  • Self-Disqualification: Not applicable; Lateral Move: 6 months; Same Job: 6 months; Down Bid: 6 months
  • Additional Notes: Disciplinary Actions: All disciplinary actions are reviewed. Employees cannot have any active disciplinary actions on file within the past 6 months.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation)

  • Work in a cold environment with temperatures ranging from approximately 30°F to 40°F.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, reach, and crouch for up to 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Push and pull pallets of materials using a manual pallet jack.
  • Wear safety toe footwear as required for the position.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for safety and food quality purposes.
