AIG’s Enterprise Risk Management sets AIG’s global corporate strategy for risk management and supports the front line risk takers in proactively managing risks in support of AIG’s goal to be our clients most valued insurer. Our mission is to identify, quantify, and manage risks proactively developing a framework to maintain successful business operations and deliver sustainable, long-term profitability. ERM is made up of both corporate and business unit risk professionals working collaboratively as “one team” to improve decision-making through better analytics that create transparency, and focus on the mitigation of the top risks that could damage AIG’s intrinsic value. ERM partners with risk professionals embedded in the businesses as well as other operations throughout AIG’s key geographic modules to apply the risk policies (e.g. Operational Risk, Reinsurance) and ensure information flows seamlessly to the corporate level.

How you will create an impact
The Risk Manager leads the risk function and is responsible for coordinating and executing the independent risk management oversight and for ensuring the implementation of a robust risk management framework in line with global policies and the expectations of local regulators.
This position reports Latin American and Caribbean Chief Risk Officer and the responsibilities include:
- Lead risk function maintaining a risk management framework and governance system aligned to AIG policies, meeting the expectation of local regulators and enabling the legal entity Board / Management teams to discharge their duties
- Provide business with advisory support identifying opportunities to enhance controls relative to key risk management topics and act as a facilitator to implement key controls
- Conduct business plan risk review (strategic risk)
- Conduct Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA)
- Experience in solvency capital requirement calculation
- Contributing to the ESG factors and reports
- Assess and document risk exposures and associated controls for business units, including analysis of business’ coverage, distribution, operational flows, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations regarding risks
- Recommend, develop and implement changes to existing policies, programs, guidance and procedures
- Contribute to development of reports to executive management identifying or collecting key risk metrics
- Provide assurance on the adequacy of the risk management control environment (financial and operational risk)
- Support Regulatory developments around risk management and solvency
- Focusing on business strategies and opportunities within the Fac Desk through engagement with regional stakeholders
- Serving as the 'go-to' point of contact for the Fac Desk in coordination with the local risk officers
- Providing deep knowledge and acting as a partner to ensure optimal level of ERM support
- Providing a consolidated risk profile at a LAC level as needed
- Identifying areas for enhancement and support in providing insights on risks and identifying alignment and optimization opportunities across the various LAC LE
- Being involved in strategic initiatives, including but not limited to development of new products, segments, client analysis which involve any aspects of risk identification and measurement
- Serve as an advisor providing complementary skills-set to risk for challenge and reviews across the region
- Communicate and engage with regulators, external auditors, group experts, and the relevant committees on risk topics as and when requested
What you’ll need to succeed
- Professional Degree in Actuary is required. Master’s degree desired.
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience in risk management.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate and gain commitment and trust from colleagues.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing the business.
- Financial risk management skills desired.
- Reinsurance experience desired.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Advanced English language proficiency is required (ability to speak and write effectively in English).
