Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Team management:
- Managing the India team for legal operations which compromises of Entity Data Governance, LP transfers, and Launchpad (more teams can be added in the future; therefore, the candidate must have the skillset and experience for doing seamless transitions)
- Help build and scale the legal function in India by adding new capabilities
- Mentoring the team to build and create leadership within the team
- Build up ownership and accountability model within the team
- Help create an outcome-based model/mindset within the team
- Should have worked in a matrix reporting environment
LP Transfer Overview:
- Manage a team responsible for the below and ensuring accuracy and TAT (The team performs the operational part, but ownership and accountability remain with this position)
- Coordinate LP transfer requests across Ares-managed funds.
- Receive, review, and log incoming transfer requests.
- Transfer request trackers and workflow dashboards, ensuring accurate status reporting and timely follow-up.
- Collection and review of required transfer documentation and supporting materials.
- Source, prepare, and distribute standard transfer documentation and ancillary forms.
- Monitor transaction progress and proactively manage outstanding action items to facilitate timely completion.
EDG Team Overview:
Managing the Entity Data Governance team, which is responsible for accuracy and completeness ofAres’ legal entity database. Process Management & Reporting
- Develop, maintain, and enhance policies, procedures, workflows, and operating manuals.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators and service levels for various processes
- Support implementation of workflow tools, automation initiatives, and reporting solutions.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build effective working relationships with Investor Relations, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Fund Administration, and external service providers.
- Support internal stakeholders with information requests and status updates.
- Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
Experience Required
- 15+ years of relevant experience within private equity, private credit, fund administration, investor services, transfer agency, fund operations, legal operations, or financial services.
- Experience supporting LP transfers, fund operations, legal entity formation, or related operational activities.
- Has proven track record of managing and setting up of the teams.
- Has worked on transitions.
- Understanding of private fund structures, partnership agreements, and fund and investor lifecycle events.
- Experience coordinating activities across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience maintaining operational trackers, workflow management tools, and management reporting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with CRM, investor servicing, fund administration, or workflow management platforms preferred.
- Prior experience within alternative asset management, private markets, or fund administration strongly preferred.
