Job Description Summary
We are seeking a proactive and organized Lab Operations & Compliance Coordinator to manage engineering laboratory operations and infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining lab systems and equipment, managing hardware inventory, ensuring compliance with EHS and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, coordinating installations and repairs, and serving as the primary point of contact for day-to-day lab support activities. The individual will work closely with Engineering, Facilities, IT, EHS, Quality, and external service providers to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient lab environment.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Lab Operations & Infrastructure
- Own day-to-day engineering lab operations and ensure availability of lab resources and systems.
- Manage lab workstations, test systems, benches, equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
- Coordinate installation, relocation, maintenance, and repair of lab equipment and systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for lab-related operational issues and service requests.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, test equipment, peripherals, and lab assets.
- Track equipment allocation, utilization, retirement, and replacement.
- Coordinate procurement, receiving, asset tagging, and disposal activities.
- Maintain equipment records, calibration status, and asset databases.
EHS & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements and laboratory safety practices.
- Coordinate safety inspections, corrective actions, audits, and training activities.
- Maintain safety documentation, signage, PPE requirements, and emergency preparedness processes.
- Support implementation and adherence to applicable EHS standards.
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure laboratory processes, records, and equipment management activities comply with applicable QMS procedures.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external quality audits.
- Track calibration, preventive maintenance, qualification, and compliance requirements for lab equipment.
Vendor & Service Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors, facilities teams, IT support, and service providers for equipment installation and repairs.
- Track service requests through closure and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules and service contracts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering labs, test environments, facilities, or technical operations.
- Experience with hardware asset management, inventory control, and equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of EHS and quality/compliance processes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a regulated industry such as Medical Devices, Healthcare, Automotive, Aerospace, or Industrial Systems.
- Understanding of calibration, preventive maintenance, and laboratory compliance requirements.
- Experience with inventory management systems, Power BI, or asset tracking tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485,QMS processes, and engineering development environments.
