Purpose and Impact:
As a Cyber Security Engineer you will be responsible for analysing, implementing, and refining robust cyber security requirements to ensure security is a foundational component of IT infrastructure and information systems. This role integrates security solutions through intentional design, innovative thinking, and technical expertise to protect critical systems, data, and assets. Expert Cyber Security Engineers also lead security teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the long-term development of secure IT architecture, emphasizing cloud-based and cutting-edge technologies.
Work Schedule:
Day shift – 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assists with leading development teams in designing, architecting, and developing secure information systems or upgrading legacy systems.
- Conducts comprehensive product research and facilitates Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to identify and recommend optimal security solutions.
- Develops system security concepts and translates technical requirements, compliance standards, and operational needs into secure system designs.
- Assists with leading the development and documentation of Security Architectures, Roadmaps, and strategic cybersecurity investment plans.
- Oversees, guides, and mentors Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level Cyber Security Engineers to ensure high-quality deliverables and best practices.
- Designs and engineers secure solutions for cloud environments, including hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, ensuring DoD/Federal compliance.
- Develops and implements cybersecurity solutions for Big Data systems, including structured and unstructured data environments.
- Engineers cybersecurity solutions using advanced tools, including automation, augmentation, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
- Ensures compliance with DoD 8570, NIST 800-53, RMF, FedRAMP, and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks and regulations.
- Develops insights and system security designs aligned with cybersecurity frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, and Zero Trust Architecture..
- Maintain health and safety within the workplace by promoting safety awareness initiatives, discussions and trainings, encouraging a safety focused culture and participating and reviewing risk assessments for those under their supervision.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Proven ability to design, implement, and document secure information system architectures.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams (Senior, Mid, and Junior cybersecurity analysts) in highly complex security and technology projects, fostering collaboration and ensuring timely delivery.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage cybersecurity efforts at the enterprise level, track project progress, and mitigate emerging challenges
- Deep understanding of advanced threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to assess and prevent potential system compromises.
- Ability to implement and operate intrusion detection and threat hunting tools, such as SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, QRadar), IDS/IPS (e.g., Snort, Suricata), and application firewalls.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTPS, etc.) to analyze malicious traffic and enforce security controls.
- Proficiency in threat intelligence analysis and integrating threat feeds into detection systems (e.g., MISP, STIX/TAXII).

- Bachelor’s Degree 8-10 years’ experience or a Master’s with 6-8 years’ experience

Security Clearance Required:
It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance w/ Poly.
