Job description:
· A Tertiary Qualification in Purchasing Management or relevant discipline preferred.
· 3 + years' experience in a similar purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a Mining or engineering environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
· Ability to function and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
· Knowledge of any ERP system and JDE Oracle will be advantage.
· Strong knowledge of the local supplier market.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office application.
· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
· Goal-oriented, organized team player
· Strong proficiency in English
· Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
· Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the section.
· Adherence to all FQM Cobre Panama policies and standing operating procedures.
· Plan and manage procurement of goods according to operational requirements and time frames.
· Promote and use Business ERP system to achieve timely processing of stock and non-stock requisitions.
· Maintain good relationship with suppliers and negotiate/optimize price and payment terms.
· Maintain and update a list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
· Perform cost and/or price analysis to substantiate the selection Sole Source and Single Bid awards.
· Ability to make decisions in timely manner and under tight deadlines and pressure
· Ability to organise time and priorities in order to sustain supply chain flow
· Perform end to end cost analysis of procurement cycle to deliver best cost saving or lead time delivery.
· Ability to identify and qualify new potential vendors
· Identifies recurring purchases that should be moved to long-term contracts
· Utilize software systems, such as Power BI, Excel and software technologies for procurement and reporting responsibilities
· Ensure appropriate back-up documentation is prepared accurately, clearly, completely, and in adherence to the Procurement Policies and Procedures
· Interface with end-user departments to determine procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements and achieve maximum effectiveness in acquiring goods
· In addition to handling all activities of routine procurement, assist Procurement Supervisor and Superintendent with non-routine or non-standard activities such as reports and other tasks as assigned
· Be an active contributor to the 'team' environment of procurement personnel striving to consistently deliver and exceed expectations.
· Perform other related duties as required.
