External Job Description

Job Summary

Mid-level Quality Engineer who independently implements and refines the team’s test automation strategy, taking ownership of testing for moderately complex features and systems. You design and maintain comprehensive automated tests across unit, integration, and E2E levels, proactively identifying opportunities to reduce flakiness and convert manual processes into efficient scripts. With growing autonomy, you mentor juniors, participate in cross-team collaborations, and contribute to improving test tools and practices for better overall software reliability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end test strategy and coverage for a major product vertical or cross-cutting area.
  • Design and ship new high-leverage test infrastructure (device farms, traffic replay, chaos scripts).
  • Drive suite runtime under 10 min and flake rate <0.1% for your areas.
  • Replace entire manual regression suites with automated, hermetic equivalents.
  • Block launches when automated guards fail; your red is authoritative.
  • Build reusable test libraries or platforms adopted by multiple teams.
  • Mentor IC3 QEs and developers on testing best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Key Relationships

  • All SWEs (Internal) - Partner to build automatic validation of semantics and functionality of software

  • Comfort with Ambiguity:
    • Comfortable navigating situations where the guidelines or expected outcomes are unclear. Recognizes that uncertainty is part of the process and can adapt accordingly.
    • Able to take initiative and move forward with decision-making, even when the path is not fully clear. Seeks out relevant information and makes informed decisions despite the ambiguity.
    • Actively reflects on experiences in ambiguous environments, learning from them and applying those lessons to future uncertain situations. Becomes more confident in handling ambiguity over time.
  • Technical Learning:
    • Can apply technical knowledge to solve problems, complete tasks, and contribute to projects with minimal guidance.
