Description
An international EPC contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Manager to support major pipeline, industrial, and infrastructure projects across the CIS region. Based in Doha, Qatar, this role will focus on construction and commercial contracts, corporate law, claims and dispute resolution, and day-to-day legal support for complex cross-border projects governed by English law. The successful candidate will report directly to the Legal Director and collaborate closely with project, commercial, procurement, finance, and executive management teams. Professional fluency in both English and Russian is essential for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and administer construction contracts, EPC contracts, purchase orders, supply agreements, procurement agreements, and subcontractor contracts.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, from tender stage through execution, amendments, project completion, and close-out.
- Handle contractual claims, disputes, variations, extensions of time, change orders, and other project-related legal matters.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and develop practical risk mitigation strategies.
- Support negotiations with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other business partners.
- Provide day-to-day legal support to project, commercial, procurement, and finance teams.
- Prepare, review, and maintain corporate documentation for international group companies.
- Support corporate governance matters and cross-border corporate transactions.
- Conduct legal due diligence and KYC reviews for counterparties, suppliers, and business partners.
- Ensure legal documentation complies with English law principles and international contracting standards.
- Coordinate with external counsel on disputes, corporate matters, and jurisdiction-specific legal issues.
- Develop and maintain legal templates, internal policies, and contract governance procedures.
- Report key contractual, legal, and commercial risks to senior management.
Key requirements
- 10+ years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Mandatory legal experience supporting construction and infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts, procurement agreements, supplier agreements, and subcontractor contracts.
- Experience working on EPC projects and with EPC contracts is highly preferred.
- Experience preparing and managing corporate documentation.
- Experience conducting KYC procedures and legal due diligence.
- Good knowledge of English law and common law contractual principles.
- Professional fluency in both English and Russian is required.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment and provide support outside standard business hours when required.
- Willingness to relocate to Doha, Qatar, with occasional regional travel.
