JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the parts inventory coordination of all PARTA maintenance inventory. Performs work safely; follows safety work rules, guidelines and procedures and exercises maximum care and good judgment to prevent injury and accidents from occurring. Under general supervision, keep inventory counted, purchased, stocked, recorded, shipped, received and all inventory areas clean and orderly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Performs and maintains current skills and knowledge of inventory control for maintenance. Entrusted with multitude of responsibilities that include receiving, storing, distributing parts, managing inventory levels and maintaining accurate records. This role demands a proactive attitude and exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
Conducts periodic physical inventory to assure proper availably of required stock. Receives incoming parts and supplies. Count stock items and record data manually or by using a computer.
Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms or warehouses. Create and maintain inventory locations. Put parts away on a daily basis and label as needed. Distribute shipments received for other departments.
Verify inventory computations by comparing against physical count of stock and investigate discrepances, report results to Inventory Manager. Continually monitor and track parts that are out of stock and provide a list to the Inventory Manager for re-ordering.
Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipment, expenditures and goods used or issued.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations; including regulations regarding the handling of hazardous materials. Dispose of damaged or defective items or return the damaged or defective items to the vendor. Keep all stocked areas clean and organized so parts are easy to find.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices, including establishing and maintaining appropriate stocking levels, monitoring inventory usage and assisting in the prevention of shortages, overstocking and obsolete inventory.
Have the ability to identify and recommend appropriate inventory levels based on usage, lead times, operational needs and inventory value, while maintaining desired inventory turnover levels; and supporting established inventory-value objectives.
Experience in basic accounting principles, inventory reconciliation and computerized inventory management systems, including the ability to reconcile physical inventory with system records, identify discrepancies and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Assist with shipping, receiving, stocking, data entry, purchase orders and good verbal and customer service skills to interact with suppliers and mechanics.
Skilled in: the use of the tools required for this position.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; lift heavy objects; walk and stand for long periods of time; communicate orally and in writing; use equipment and tools required of this position properly and safely; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish effective working relationships.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A) High School diploma or GED
B) Successful completion of previous employment verification and criminal background investigation.
C) Successful completion of pre-employment Non- Department of Transportation Drug Screen.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Office phone, fax, copier, basic computer literacy, data entry accuracy and familiarity with inventory or catalog software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.
