ROLE PROFILE:
At Infrastructure & Cloud Division, our mission is to organize and govern operational data for every application and asset across LSEG. As part of this mission, you will join a team building the next generation data platform for ServiceNow, CMDB and ITSM data.
Our goal is to establish a trusted operational data platform for ServiceNow, CMDB and ITSM domains that enables engineering teams across LSEG to consume high-quality, governed data products without creating duplicate datasets or fragmented integrations. This platform serves as the foundation for observability, incident management, software change management, operational analytics and emerging AI-powered capabilities.
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about solving complex data challenges and building platforms that make high-quality data accessible, reliable and actionable at enterprise scale.
ROLE Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Lead Data Platform Engineer to help build and evolve the next generation data platform for ServiceNow, CMDB and ITSM data.
In this role, you will design and implement platform capabilities that improve data quality, governance, lineage and discoverability while enabling downstream teams to consume trusted data products efficiently and consistently. You will work closely with teams across observability, incident management, software change management and other operational domains to understand their data needs and provide scalable platform solutions.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on engineering role focused on modern data platform technologies including Python, cloud-native services, Apache Iceberg, Snowflake and ClickHouse. You will contribute to platform architecture, influence engineering standards, mentor team members and help drive the long-term strategy for operational data across the organization.
A key measure of success in this role will be creating platform capabilities that enable multiple engineering domains to consume trusted operational data without creating duplicate datasets or fragmented data pipelines
Key responsibilities will include:
- Design, build and evolve the enterprise data platform for ServiceNow, CMDB and ITSM data.
- Design and build reusable data platform capabilities that enable delivery of governed, trusted and discoverable data products at enterprise scale.
- Improve data quality, lineage, metadata management and governance across the platform.
- Enable governed, self-service access to operational data for downstream consumers while minimizing data duplication and silos.
- Partner with teams across observability, incident management, software change management and other domains to understand data requirements and deliver platform capabilities.
- Design and implement data lifecycle management capabilities including historical tracking, auditability, traceability and data retention strategies.
- Contribute to platform architecture, engineering standards, reliability and operational excellence.
- Diagnose production incidents, identify root causes and provide expert support for critical platform services.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of data engineering and platform engineering capabilities across the team.
Required experience and skill must include:
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering or large-scale software engineering.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, including lineage, governance, metadata management, temporal data modelling, data quality and historical data management.
- Experience designing, building and operating scalable data platforms and data pipelines.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience building data-intensive applications, services and frameworks.
- Advanced SQL expertise, including performance tuning and optimization of analytical workloads.
- Strong understanding of modern ETL/ELT architectures and data product design principles.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD, automated testing and operational excellence.
- Experience driving technical architecture discussions and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience leveraging modern developer productivity tools, including GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex or similar toolchains.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.
Desired experience and skills may have:
- Experience working with ServiceNow, CMDB and ITSM datasets.
- Experience with Apache Iceberg, Snowflake and/or ClickHouse.
- Experience building applications in AWS and/or Azure environments.
- Experience implementing data governance, metadata management, lineage or data catalog capabilities.
- Experience enabling self-service data consumption and data-sharing patterns at enterprise scale.
- Experience working with GitHub, GitLab and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across teams.
